So because he have a difference of opinion, I'm a misogynist?
- Atomic Wedgie

No, it's because you inherently disapproved of the way that she chose to be a fan. It's because you attacked her in a way that you have not done in a way that you had not done for even folks like Garth or Tanner, who are demonstrably poor writers.

Just being hypothetical here,

But if in fact the Leafs move Nylander to Carolina for a Dman, which Dman currently on the roster would be the best option to centre a package around? I don't think for a second that a guy like Faulk alone would be enough for Nylander, or any one Dman on the Canes for that matter. That being said, things like age and cap hit are factors. Faulk only has 2 years left on his deal and would want more than the 4.8 he makes now. He'd want a raise after a couple years to the 6-7 range and that might not be as feasible with new deals being handed out. There's also Dougie Hamilton only having 3 years left on his deal at a decent 5.75, and the recently signed De Haan at 4.5 for a full 4 years.

If we were to have a deal with them for a Dman, which one is best?

In terms of need, Pesce would check all the boxes. He's a rightie, he's a solid defensive guy who can skate, and he's tied up long term on a good deal. That said, we'd need back more, obviously. But Pesce would fill our biggest need...

He was three of the top five October goalies of all time.
- Atomic Wedgie

Luongo, Schneider and Lack were the greatest goalies the world has ever seen. Vancouver had them all.

Tanner is not a bad writer, he just has really bad ideas and terrible opinions.

He is not a particularly good writer either.

Interdasting...

Don't know a whole lot about him. Definitely need a lot more back in return, but if this offense keeps up like it did tonight and all the other wingers continue to put up solid numbers it's honestly a foregone conclusion Nylander either sits out the year, signs for what Dubas wants or gets moved.

There's absolutely zero reason for Dubas to fold.

Agreed. It sucks because Nylander and Matthews are dynamite together, but in a hard cap world you have to get folks to put team above self. He's gonna get plenty of money regardless, but if he would take a little less than he wants, that could really contribute to a great team. I don't begrudge him for holding out, but there's still always the "what if?"...

(Personally, regardless of contract, I don't trade Nylander, unless it's for a guy like Jones. Which wouldn't happen.)

Dude, Pesce would really check off every box.. I've been wanting him for a long time.

You realize that you had a choice to not comment, right? You had the opportunity to not criticize her even though you didn't find her blog "illuminating"?

You didn't.

You specifically used your voice to attack her.

Because she was not being a fan/writer in the way that you deemed acceptable.

*That* (double emphasis) is misogyny. She did not meet your preconceived opinion of how to hockey, so you attacked her for it.

- lumlums

Having no knowledge of the specific incident...

Did something specifically get said that suggested she had no ability to write *because* she was a woman? That is the only way that it qualifies as misogyny, under the idea of "prejudice".

That may or may not have been the case, I don't know. Unless it was explicit, I think we need to allow some leeway for communciation not being perfect over a written-only medium.

We also have to be careful if we are going to say "my marginalizing or making sexist comments about women is "just joking", but yours post is misogyny."

I wouldn't do a Nylander for Pesce, 1 for 1 deal.. Carolina would need to add more.. I do like Zykov, he could be a good replacement for Marleau.

I have been on the trade Nylander train for a while.

There is one very scary consideration though. What if they can't/don't sign Matthews and he gets offer-sheeted to some enormous amount we can't match. It would be nice to have Nylander in the fold and at least still have a good forward core.

No, I am not saying that IS going to happen, so hold your water.

We need to stop arguing about this and get back to the topic on hand - The Leafs kicking the Red Wing's ass.

That being said, I was a lurker for a long time before I created an account and remember what happened/what was said. I think both sides are wrong, I did at the time and I especially do now. Neither side is going to win - because that is impossible, so the best thing to do is drop it.

6 -2 Leafs, Matthews with a hat trick.

You would have a hard time getting Carolina to go 1-up. Keep in mind

1) Relatively speaking D-men are more valuable than wingers
2) Nylander has not proven much, especially away from Matthews
3) Nylander is a player that is holding out for abut 2 million more than he is worth. Many of us questioned how much we want a guy like Trouba on our team. I am questioning whether we want a guy willing to sit... for an amount not in line with the market.
4) In contrast, Pesce has a good contract
5) Every team in the league knows the Leafs have a real cap problem. Nobody is lining up to make a good "hockey trade".
