I think it's crazy to keep 8 defensemen here, something has to give

I also think DeAngelo needs to keep playing

I think they should send Pionk down and keep Claesson as the 7th d-man

Could happen but what’s the downside of keeping eight d-men? Cap hit isn’t large for either one of them. Unless it’s to make sure they stay sharp.

they just all need to play as much as possible, especially to build trade value

Pionk is the only one who can get send down without waivers, instead of sitting around, I'd have him go play for Hartford tomorrow and saturday

Set up a cot and a dorm refrigerator for Staal in the press box. Everybody else plays until Shattenkirk's trade value rises. Consult his 10-team list and work around it. Neither are part of a rebuild.

Has Pionk really been that bad so far? I thought he was pretty solid the first 2 games. Wasn't really paying attention to him that much against Carolina

No he hasn't but as the coach said - these guys don't realize how good they can be. I think it sends a strong message that Pionk is going to be a top defender but he needs to put in extra effort to get there

I agree
It’s hard to pin anything on 1 or 2 or even 3 guys. The team defense displayed so far has been horrific. It’s not all on the dmen. As a group, this team has been bad. And it’s going to be that way all year. And that’s fine by me.
I’d like to see trades sooner than later. Like Jimbro has said...I’d trade anyone on this roster except Buchnevich Chytil Howden and maybe I’d add Skjei to that group. He’s young still and even though it feels like he’s been around for a long time, I’m not ready to deal him after 3 years, unless you’re getting a helluva return

it's not really his play, it's just that there are 8 defensemen here and the coaching staff wants to get them all in

problem with sitting Pionk is that haven't played since sunday, so assuming he plays saturday afternoon vs Edmonton, that's awhile between games for him

Yeah, you make some valid points. Everyone needs to play as much as possible. Send him down and keep him going.

someone (Jimbo) asked what i would do....

well ,easy is or was to trade off picks & prospects for A talent

i lamented many times for Karlsson & a top center ..RNH for ex.

over pay for them and keep the core u want & let the B talent we have

so much of fill in around them...

lost window of summer ,watched Karllson go for a sack of pucks & sum

prospects & talent... we could have had that easy BUT NOOOO we gotta rebuild

using shatty & shey as our top guys ? Karsllon would have flourished here @ 28 with at least 5 yrs left at the top of his game & position...

keep the vigil for rebuild going , gonna sell off any or alll the can from this bunch of NHLers we have ,mostly Zuc hayes nemstikov spooner staal shatty etc...
have fun with that scenario , like were gonna be winning gms routinely ....

you realize that San Jose has not signed Karlsson to an extension, and if he's still a UFA this summer we can get him for free right?

are you terminally ill or something? do you HAVE to see them go for broke this season?

RNH sucks

You just can have sustained winning in this league anymore by overpaying for FA's. We have tried that more times than we can count and what has it brought us???
