This team really has some work to do. Seabrook and Ruuta just bad, the rookie is out playing both of them

LD Keith is solid nothing special anymore but Gusto and Manning suck.

Here's to the kids in the system taking some big steps

Certainly seems like it through four regulation periods - they look like they have no idea where their teammates are going to be on the ice.

But - lots of new skates that weren’t around ladt season (or only got a cup of coffee) - 14, 16, 23, 24, 28, 29, 62, 64....

I’ll be charitable and say let’s give them some time to figure it out.

Although Kane has gotten no help thru the four periods from his linemates - who WERE here last season.

Hawks treat these games like preseason/scrimmage drills. Not into it, go through the motions, no chemistry, sloppy, not fluid.

Can’t figure out Kanes line. Kane looks frustrated already. He has no shooter or someone to camp at the net. I don’t like Saad on that line. Saad is starting to look like Stahlberg out there but not as fast. He can’t do anything with the puck even along the boards. Just some better two way play.

Not true at all. They haven't played their best tonight, but they're not just standing around out there (except Kane again tonight). Sometimes you let in more than you score in the first period. Sort of like the last game.

I think the first week or two can be really inconsistent around the league. Some teams come out the gate looking like world beaters and then fall off the map. Others struggle and take time to come around. I'm curious to see how they look when they play a few home games. More work to do on their in zone management of the puck for sure.

Fair enough, i guess i just don't understand why they just don't keep it simple, really don't think it's that difficult, shoot the puck when you have a chance, don't make no look passes, don't abandon the front of the net when you are a dman and the opponent has the puck, as a dman keep the opponent in front of you and to the outside. Just simple stuff that they struggle with so much

Toews line isn't included as part of the whole team? Or is it just the rest of the team you think is going through the motions/think it's preseason? Can't really make a blanket statement like that when it isn't true

I think Saad/Schmaltz started to get going a little bit towards the end, but I'm not sure about that line. They didn't do anything much last year when they were together. I still think Schmaltz is gonna find himself playing wing if this continues.

This defense will only go where Gus takes it. If he is not a big story by Christmas, then the Hawks will be in bad shape.

Schmaltz 1 of 4 on face-offs, Saad 0 for 2. So that line is 1 for 6.

I will reiterate A stat I found out about last night. Hawks are 43-0-0 in their last 43 that Kane and Toews have both scored a goal.
