Jake Allen starts off the season with 10 goals against on 55 shots for an .818 sv pct
Woof, the blues have a serious problem on their hands - Stan_Bowman
And the Blues don't have a #1 goalie coming back from an injury.

You can be sure Babcock will try to smother Kane and Toews tomorrow. |

I'd agree that he hasn't really done anything special so far, but he had a good camp. Maybe give him a few more games, and if he doesn't come around, maybe they bring up highmore. - ToewsdNKanefusd
Gotcha. Didn’t watch much preseason. Hard to tell considering that entire line has been brutal and only seeing 6-8 mins of ice time max. |

I think you said playing the blues 3 times in 3 weeks equals wtf is that?
Tonight was an answer to week 1 haha. - I Am The Breadman
I did..a division 3x in 3 weeks and then again in mid OCT? Weird scheduling...

allen has been one of the most streaky goalies in the league over the last 3 years...
he can be very good or really bad over 6-8 games...I am knida surprised they have stuck with him so long...hell it is elliot they rode to the conf finals two years ago...

If I were a gambling man (Babcock loves toews so I bet he considers his line the main threat) so he goes kadri line against toews, tavares line against Kane's, and tries to keep Matthews line away from toews at all costs. Babcock isn't the biggest fan of Matthews and I don't think he would trust him out there against toews |

Between halak/Miller/Elliot/Allen they have never trusted any of them
They saw enough from Miller to not want to even bring him back despite what they gave up at the TDL for him
Toews' breakaway broke Ryan Miller's brain and essentially ended his competitive career. He went out and twilighted his career in Vancouver and then just started accepting back up jobs to be closer to his wife |

Panik and Hino on Yotes #1 PP unit. Nuff said. Discuss.
We saw the same thing Glenn. I was just so shocked I could not type fast enough. Good by you. - -Doh-
Notice that whiff by Hino receive pass with about 20 seconds left. Brutal puck then escapes zone |

If thats the Toews we're going to get this season - I need to upgrade my expectations for this season. I don't mean scoring at a 2.5 ppg clip - I mean playing the all around game like vintage Toews. The way Toews has played the first 2 games is as good or better than he was 3,4,5 years ago. What a beautiful thing to see. |

Toews didn't do Allen any favors tonight with his breakaway, either. A breakaway during playoffs is different, but the end result was still the same. |

The terrible Ottawa Senators - whom the Hawks barely beat last nite - just beat the great Maple Leafs 5-3 - in Toronto. - StLBravesFan
Yes. So much can be read from wins and losses night in/night out in a parity league. Very logical to write the season off for not trouncing a team like the Sens the other night. |

I think that while Fortin forechecks well, I would not want him on the top line against other top lines. I would consider Fortin a liability in his own zone. Kahun at least looks like he is responsible defensively - Stan_Bowman
Fortin made significant progress, defensively last year. I think that if you had an injury, Fortin could be challenged in a short call up to.perform. Does well, maybe he sticks around until injured player returns. Just a thought. Would first inquire as to his effort and Colliton opinion on others |

ADD you may really need someone with speed on forecheck if we are challenging for playoffs. Fortin golden opportunity to take a job away from ?

I appreciate your views on Noel, Highmore, and especially Fortin. He's the dark horse I always root for.
I really don't know anything about who's developing, just names, and I give eye tests to players during the game. I really like that you don't just tell me I'm wrong, which is a brilliant arguing skill that some demonstrate towards me, but you have stuff to back up what you say. Thank you. |

This is why Stan is average- he misses the boat on these available difference makers - Colbyboy
Do you pay attention to anything???
Maroon is from St. Louis - he wanted to play there - he said so himself. |

Did not see the game but wow impressed by Toews! Hope thats a year long rejuvenation as that would be a welcomed surprise ..... Happy to see him back!
TO will be a good test as I'm sure they're pissed at losing to Ottawa. |

He does go straight to the net. He is very good on his edges too. Hope he settles in he has some skill. I agree with you he is opening space. No problem with his first 2 games.
4th line is trash though. Play with no structure. It looks like an AHL game. I’m not sure what Q is thinking with that line. - bhawks2241
Agreed.
I'm not sure about Kruger on the wing.
That Martinsen-Kruger-Hayden line was geeat in preseason.... I woild go back to them. |

Kruger also didn't have a good night at the dot, either. I know being a center is more than that, but maybe there is a better option? |
