I'm probably in the minority on this but I think Schmaltz and Saad will be fine on the balance of the whole season (and I don't mean to use the term "fine" in Q speak). Schmaltz will equal or eclipse his career highs. Saad should approach his career highs again.
Could they be much better? Of course. Schmaltz can always work on his faceoffs, shoot more, and take a hit to make a play. Will he? We'll see. The coaches and team leaders need to prove their worth to get the most out of him.
Something off with Saad but not sure what it is. He has the talent and track record. I have faith he'll have a solid season. - AEL_Fox
Wow. If they reach or surpass career highs that would be great. I hope you are right. |

After I saw that tweet...makes me assume Hayden + Davidson in tomorrow. Marinsen + Rutta out. |

They showcased themselves well for a future trade. Jokiharu makes for a nice sweetener to go with Toews's contract. - Dieselhead
Toews, Jokiharju, Boqvist and 2019 1st for Teravainen. It may not be enough, Stan may need to throw in Beaudin too. |

I'm guessing Hayden in for Johnson, too, especially against a rough-n-tumble Blues team. Extra muscle in the lineup with Hayden and Martinsen would be nice. |

Hayden in for Johnson and Martinsen up to Kane's line. |

Could be right. I was just guessing based on who they said was sharing spots with the "/". |

It was probably just a line change thing and I only noticed it once in the game but DeBrincat was out with Schmaltz and Kane for at least one shift in the 3rd period. I think it was before Seabs tied the game so it was probably just Q loading up for a shift or two ... but ... just sayin ... |

Figured that was the case with the slashes.
Q could just come way out of leftfield with his praise of Jokiharju and end up scratching him so Davidson can play tomorrow. I'd much rather Davidson play Saturday or Sunday replacing Rutta or Gustafsson. |

Kane needs to be the leader on that line and pull it together. - StLBravesFan
The troubling thing is that Kane can’t make Schmaltz grow a pair. Schmaltz went the entire game without contacting a Senators’ player. Doesn’t initiate contact but also will not take a hit - even a slight one - to make a play. Don’t expect him to play like Martinsen but he has to be engaged. As the Center he can’t just let opposing players walk uncontested down the slot.

Agreed. Get rid of him now while we can. He's way too soft. I was super high on him ever since the WJC tourney he was in...but he refuses to take a hit to make the play. You learn that in peewee. And I've been a broken record with everyone I know about this...kid refuses to shoot the puck. Passes when he should shoot every darn time. I'm over him. Get something while we can or Stan will overpay and we'll be stuck again. He's a great skater but what good is that if you don't go to the net, shoot or go to the dirty areas. Edzo called him out several times. - thepld
There is giving up opportunities and then there is giving up the greatest opportunities ever. Schmaltz alone on goalie from the slot. Passes it non-sensically away for a turnover. Other players dream to have the puck in those circumstances. Must make his team-mates, especially Kane, absolutely CRAZY!

I thought Gus was ok . Made a bone headed drop pass but I think that was a set play that was mis communicated. I like the speed he has and passing abilty. |

I swear that Schmaltz would skate in alone on a shootout attempt and turn around to find someone to throw the puck to. |

Good news. Me thinks we may need Forsberg to step up and play well for a couple games in October. |

His first period, he was noticeable in his play. He was good defensively. |

I bet some people feel the same way about you and your James Tanner way of evaluating hockey and continuously telling people they're wrong because they want players with size or play a power game. - GPHawksfan
