I see Kane is in mid-season defensive form. It wasn't just their 2nd goal that found Kane not paying attention to he defensive assignment, there were a couple other plays that didn't result in goals against. The neutral zone turnover didn't help his 1st period resume either.

The Hawks are going to be hard pressed enough to win games when Kane plays well - really difficult when he plays like he did in the 1st period.

Trainwreck defensively of a period. Wow.

There's a lot of rust and nerves out there so let's see if they get better as the game goes on. I'm sure Q gave then a lashing in intermission.

I think Toews feels the pressure of the C on one shoulder and 21 on the other.

Ottawa just has no answer for the Hawks first line. They are getting chances.

Wait till the week end against the Blues and Leafs, Sunday nite , the UC may be half empty by mid game.... this is horse sh.t! I hope McD blows a gasket by early Nov. and cleans house, put the Kool Aid down, ....half these guys couldn't make most other NHL teams! Not even 2 periods and some asking about Shmaltz MIA. Whole team has been better defensively, and that first line is dangerous every shift. It's great to be able to say 1st line and legitimately mean Toews' line again

Yeah. There are a lot of guys, especially in Ottawa, that are still playing for their NHL lives, so it was a wild first period with guys taking a ton of I'll advised chances
