Well its a win.
Time to dump Martinsen out he gives nothing Hayden can't give and Hayden has better hands, better skill. Rutta also bad, but have to wait for injuries to heal. - kwolf68
Hayden doesn't do anything better that Martinsen. They both aren't that good. |

Do these dmen even work on hitting the net, just awful |

Toews played his best game in years, Joki will
learn he has the talent, Ward got better as the
game went on, #rd line was decent, would rather
see Hayden than Kunitz on it
Everyone else nothing to write home about.
Will Q ever try a different PP setup?
Can't wait til Saturday, can we learn to accept a pass
and skate at the same time by then?
It's going to be a long season, needing a goalie win
against Ott. |

Toews was impressive hope this is something we see all year
Kane nice way to end it but there was a lot of yips on the ice with his puck handling tonight
As much as i was worried about Manning sucking, Rutta was the awful one tonight
Nice to start with a win
Schmaltz has got to grow a pair what a chicken poop. - BetweenTheDots
Schmaltz will always be a soft player. Elite speed and good puck skill but has a skinny frame and doesn't have the "nasty" in him |

19's best game since Game 7 vs Anaheim in 2015...(frank)ing loved watching 19 play tn. Skating, puck handles, agility, strength, tenacity, goal production, faceoff wins. Great stuff from 19

Has a better shot and seems a bit better at generating some offense. If they're about as good or bad as each other what do you have against it? |

I know it's only one game but is it proved that Toews doesn't need Saad |

I would put Hayden in over Saad. |

right on enzo I don't know why all the conversation this offseason was Schmaltz getting a bridge 5 * 5 or 5 * 6 contract |

A goalie win? Ward made a couple big saves, but the Hawks vastly outplayed Ottawa tonight. It was not a goalie win.

Who said I had anything against it. I'm just pointing out that Hayden isn't very good for all the underserved praise he gets. He's a 4th line plug |

Toews 69% at the dot, damn |

Pump the brakes even further.
Ottawa is expected to be the worst team in the league this year and have nothing representing a NHL top pair defense
This is a game you expected to the stars to light up a team burning their franchise to the ground, and they eeked out an OT win
Good to see Toews produce, but I am not lauding a turn around season for him when the best defender he faced was who? Chabot? Ceci? Wideman?
Toews biggest problem is he has been made completely irrelevant by legit dmen the last two years, and it really hasnt been that difficult for them |

How exactly was that a goalie win? Shots were 43 - 25 Hawks. |

Not praise, just people wanting to see a guy who might be able to contribute a little more to the bottom 6 than a true bottom 3 plug like your guy Martinsen. |

excellent point but we all have to agree that toews looked way better tonight than he has in a long long time |

Gotta disagree with anyone who thinks Martinsen was bad tonight. He did everything he had to. Played with pace, played smart, crushed people, responsible. |
