This seems like a "lifetime achievement" suspension. That said, I'm okay with it.

More than what I expected but still not quite enough. Should have been 30-40 if you ask me.

Expected he would only get 10 so liking them coming down hard on him. Next time Raffi Torres his ass though, no leniency whatsoever for him at this point.

That said the sad part is I'm expecting the NHLPA to go ahead and protect him and appeal it.

Anything more and it would have been too easy to appeal. Even if he does appeal this one (which I'm sure he will; he clearly has no concept of what's right and wrong in the game these days), it's a reasonable enough number, given his history, to get upheld.

Any less than 20 fails to send the message. Hope they told him that the next one is a match penalty for 82 games. It's clear that he's trying to hurt people, which can't be allowed even in a rough sport like hockey.

I think the NHL could have even justified a longer suspension. There is absolutely no argument that he doesn't know what he's doing now. He's been warned, told, punished, and suspended enough for this. He's a predator on the ice. If I was an NHL coach, I'd be hard-pressed to play any of my players in a preseason game against the Caps if Wilson was playing. I'd play my ECHL team that game.

he has 5MM in signing bonus this year and 1.1MM in salary, i think he just loses out on the salary portion. so just north of 250K in salary lost.

I believe he has to pay based on his whole net ($6.1M), not just on his base salary ($1.1M).

For a player of his lack of hockey skill to get such a huge signing bonus means he and his agent knew he'e be getting suspended left a right so this was their loop hole.

And if this was his intent and the Caps knew of it, I wonder who he might be targeting to secure another caps win.
