Cubs given a gift - can’t do anything with it. - StLBravesFan
Honestly no idea what the Cubs hitting philosophy is or what their approach is this game. Rockies kid is throwing nothing but fastballs and the cubs can’t catch up. |

Don't know how one hires a batting coach who struck out almost a 100 times a season? |

Maybe tell some guys to look opposite field. Hard to pull outside fastballs... cubs and maddon seem reluctant to change their approach. |

Unlike the Blackhawks, the Cubs have nurtured a lot of home grown talent. They win one World Series with much youth. Sort of lucky how Cleveland wasn't up to the task, their pitching stretched out. But give cubbies credit for clutch performances during those playoffs.
Now all their young hitters cannot hit in the clutch. Good pitching beats the Cubs. Not even long ball threats aplenty can supply at least moderate amount of offense.
Just be glad that Chicago teams not of yore have won something. Hockey, baseball two teams. Going back far to soak up Bulls and Bears championships. |

Past line ups would have the starting pitcher accumulate pitches with patient at bats. This year its home run or nothing, I've never seen so many heads snapping around because the batter swings so hard |

don't like the way todays pitchers are managed...
how about this...in 1965 Jim Maloney (reds) piched a no hitter (but 10 walks) and won 1-0 in 10 innings throwing 187 pitches... |

Harvey Haddix - 1959 - 12 perfect innings, lost in the 13th.
I was listening from my Winnetka bedroom on WTMJ Milwaukee - Earl Gillespie and Blaine Walsh doing the Braves’ radio call. |

Un-plucking-believable. - StLBravesFan
Way too believable with this year's team. Of course the threat ends with a strikeout! |

Maddon is a stats guy. Heyward one of the worst post season hitters with 100 ABs. Roll him out there to strikeout on ball 3. |

And right on que Almora goes up and takes huge cuts. All the cubs needed was a ball slapped into shallow right. |

the ump is certainly generous with the corners tonight...tough to hit with those pitches and calls for both teams...
