Forsberg appears to be another example of how Bowman is building an all-time bad trade dynasty.

He could write the book called Hockey Trading For Dummies, However it would almost certainly be renamed Hockey Trading BY Dummies.

Q is done. The team needs a radical change behind the bench.
- WJDiedrich

I've seen fair arguments on both sides of the Q question, but that said, I do not see this roster doing any better under a different coach.

Stan must go first. Then let the new GM decide on coaching decisions.

Please, Tkachuk did not look special - he is big, slow, no hands. He will only start in the NHL because he is a Senator. He will be lucky to hit double digits in goals. Over-hyped. Remember what I have said - if I am wrong I’ll admit it. Boqvist is very special - he will be a star in the NHL. There will be no comparison between the two - Boqvist by a country mile. Also remember that Tkachuk is much older than Boqvist is as Draftees go.

You may not be wrong on what your eye test says so far on the.extremely early stage of a career for a highly touted Tkachuk. But I question how he could be on the slow side with all the review that goes into a player analysis by the scouts. Allow him development time which might include improvement in skating. If he was obviously a question mark in skating, he doesn't get rated & drafted highly. Not a burner, but rush to judgment is premature especially considering most prospects are not stars automatically their rookie season.

ADD: he was considered turning pro a year earlier than what his developmental curve suggested. He did not score a lot in Hockey East although he was on fire in the WJC

I have to ask ,what is wrong with having a mix of smaller skilled players and some big talented guys like possibly Tkachuk could be down the road, and while Hayden could be a decent player , he's not that pedigree.
It is a known fact that Stan Bowman is very bullheaded when asked about that very subject. I was at the prospects camp and asked one of the Hawk employees related to the team and was told " Stan doesn't believe you need size just speed". I did not even have a comeback comment when I was told that. All I am is a fan like everybody else, but it is an axe to grind with me. I also know that the president is let's just put it this way very unhappy and had basically stated "on the second floor of that atrium, that if we don't make the playoffs heads will roll. "Take it how you want .all of you guys may be right in the long run. But already seeing the coach and other Blackhawk officials steaming under the collar and the preseason isn't even over. I got a believe that everything is not cozy in the front office.

Heard that if that ( coaching change)happens, it is going to be Kevin Dineen ,the kid in Rockford is not even under consideration. And got it from a credible source.

Some people harp on a point and find not accept the overall ipicturre. The Panarin trade was a sensible trade. To date however Saad had some issues. He didn't loose his ability. But he is not playing up to par. Forsberg whom you criticize is typical of a young netminder still needs to play a lot and probably will be descent. Maybe he never becomes elite but inconsistent playing time hurts a goaltender's development.

Btw: coach Q needs to update coaching technique. He doesn't have forwards helping enough. He allowed Forsling.to stay here too long last season when the coaching decision to rely on his quick reaction at speed was ok yet his defensive game, overall, was lacking. He needs AHl time and better coaching.

There is more which had been said about the Q coaching. He will likely burn out in Chicago this year. Bownan is on the clock but I do believe his overall drafting especially last few drafts is good. He compounded a tough job with some questionable deals before and after winning last Cup.

He gambles with a type roster he likes and he really was lucky they o overachieved winning despite some shorttcoming in toughness. They had enough when it counted so credit him for Cup success. Tell me how many other GM would have carried the torch and not break up a core and win three Cups.

Timmonen, Runsblad, the Leddy return was not a stud prospect, Dannault trade might have worked out to farther playoff advance but Q didn't take advantage, rather mismanaged how players could have helped more. Sharp was past prime with big contract and Johns while has some nice parts to game is at best a faur second pair actually really a career third pair guy. Bowman tried to get a high pick for Sharp which he wasn't ever going to get. It was not a horrible trade. It was a trade that had to be made.

So Bowman has plus and minus points although he is unfairly improperly criticized on this board.

I was being sarcastic *shocker*. I am more than happy with Boqvist.

On another note (and not directed at you), while I will acknowledge that Saad hasn’t been good enough I’m not ready to write him off just yet. Saad offers a lot of value to the team and I believe he will come around. Forsberg was thrown into the fire too early last season, he was ready or intended to be the #1 last year. I’m less optimistic about Forsberg but there’s still potential.

I agree with you on Saad.

What people are missing from last year - try to remember how many times Saad missed an open corner by an inch or two - or hit a post. The team as a whole led the league in post/crossbar hits.

Those "bad luck" misses should correct themselves going forward. It happened to him 30-40 times last year - just a slight correction in his aim - and he will hit 30 goals and most likely 60-65 points. And then maybe the bashing here will stop.

Agree with both you and Darth. In addition to the many hit posts which don't even count as shots on goal, Saad's shooting percentage was way down from his career average. He's still young enough to bounce back to that average again.

Even if he dips below his career averages again, I don't think it will be to the tune of less than 20 goals/40 points again. I predict at least 25 goals/50 points.

And - after 7 points in three good games against Washington - nothing in the 3 final games that closed CBJ out. . .

.... and playing with a knee injury ... seriously, try some context. Ever skate with a bum knee? No? Ok, now trying being the guy that the team expects to carry them while playing on a bum knee ... doesn't happen too often.

Face it, Columbus got close, but lost ... not because of Panarin - but because they had no one -but- Panarin.

That's fair, though I find it funny that we should have no problem accepting that, yet if it were one of the Hawks stars, it would be spin and laying the groundwork for excuses coming from the McDonough/Bowman camp...not directed at you but in general.

The blurb I read said it was for the last two games, 5 and 6. Game 4 was when WSH used the NSH playbook and had one or two guys take Panarin out of the play just as he entered the zone.

Yes...it is just pre-season...

But, Teravainen has a 4 point night....

Panarin has a 4 point night....

And, us Hawk fans all cringe a little. Wish them well, but damn...those two would look good in our top 9!!!
