Great read Todd. I think it was best the youngsters mature in the Bing rather than play limited TOI or sit in the pressbox. Still not giving up on McLeod, just not expecting a first line center anymore. I remember his draft, didn't like the trade down and then didn't love the pick. Can't cry over spilled milk....

Agree on all of this. Really disappointed in McLeod. Between his OHL stats, his limited role on the Canadian Junior team, and his most recent camp, he just doesn't appear to have a ton of offensive ability. Not saying he doesn't have a future in the league or on the Devils, but at this point, which I admit is still relatively early, he seems like a 3rd line-speedy-PK type of player.

I wouldn't be surprised if Anderson is first player called up. Devils need right handed wingers, but maybe they're humbling this kid a bit and want to challenge him.

I'm shocked to see Seney still in camp...

I agree with everything you said Todd, but I'm not as high on Quennville. This was supposed to be the camp where he broke out and proved his worth. In games featuring only 50% NHL opposition, his performance has been extremely lackluster. He has hardly been noticeable. I think he is a fringe 4th liner, with a 3rd liner ceiling. I would use his name and see if we can move him now for parts or picks.

Not shocked to see the kids not ready or arent carrying their own lines in preseason when you simply worry about wether or not an 18 year old is good with out the puck when you make draft choices. We never ever take a guy leading his league in offense but if their is a guy who cant score worth a (frank) but can kill penalties you bet hes on our radar. Gotta draft guys who have offensive skillsets to get these players that excell with the puck. I dont think the method of trying to turn defensive minded plugs into offensive players has worked once for us but they swear by it.....

Guys, there is no worries at all if the kids aren't ready. Good ol' Drew Stafford is here to patch up the holes.

Also, John Q makes this team without a doubt. He is ready, and he's learned. What I don't want to see is Kevin Rooney on the opening night roster. The guy does absolutely NOTHING.

Ray's plan of sitting on his hands this offseason and giving the kids a chance may backfire.

Well, I mean, Boucher put up some serious numbers in the OHL and I believe deemed to have a somewhat similar shot to Stamkos. And, well, that didn't pan out either.

freaking Boucher. the sniper that never could. would've been nice if he panned out to be a 40g winger lol. just lacked drive, speed, strength, vision. decent shot though.

Should the Devils take their chances and trade Ty Smith and McLeod or Zacha for William Nylander and draft picks?

According to EK, a team in the metro division offered a very strong young d man. I would think that has to be ty smith.

I doubt it. Toronto needs a good roster dman. Also Ty Smith hasn't even played a game yet. It would be a real gamble for them to trade Nylander for Smith, even coupled with other picks/prospects.

man. It would leave us without Smith, who could be a top-pairing guy, which we kind of don't have otherwise.. except for Vatanen. It would gain us Nylander, who's a top 6 RW, which we only have one of. AND he's young, so in the same window as Nico and Hall. Tough call there. I'd rather NOT give up Smith and go for Stone, if not giving up Smith were an option in a package for Stone lol.

Yes, but perhaps the Dmen we have don't really answer that problem either. If we can upgrade the offense and not cripple the defense I would do it. But I am not Shero either....

Lol he didnt work because the whole time he was here it was defense defense defense and he wasnt that great, he likely would have thrived here now ( minus his skating ). But he has to be like the one guy we took whos tore up his league lol.

Thank god we’re building thru the draft and not signing free agents. Too bad most of these prospects blow monkeys. So time to tank?

Jack Hughes or potential loss of Hall?

Long term go with Hughes, Hall will be declining soon, prob has a few more injuries.

Perfect scenario we get Hughes and Hall still signs.
