Agree with this. If you assume they aren't going anywhere this year, what good does it do for Hayden's future to play in Rock. He's been there done that, and been fairly successful.

Martensen is the epitome of just a guy. Doesn't make any sense to keep him over Hayden. Can't see this being the difference of playoffs or not.

Think Rockford is good for Sikura, don't think it is for Hayden.

I think the Hawks need to give Sikura and Hayden a chance against NHL competition for a little while then make the assessment. It won't hurt to give them 10-20 games then send them to Rockford if needed. Martisen can be the guy shuttling between Rockford and Chicago as required.

I'm excited to see what Johnson can do with the big club, things are looking good for the kid.

Maybe just me, but I'm not convinced it will be Martinsen sent down. Zebras don't change their stripes and Q likes to have a winger of that "type" hanging around who can take the press box minutes or play when needed. Martinsen could very well be this years Tootoo/Bollig/Scott/Bouma/Carcillo/Eager/Mayers type guy.

it is possible that someone like Manning could get 4th line wing minutes (Q has done this in the past) if they want some "grit" at forward ones Murphy/Forsling come back.

IMO, Johnson probably isn't a lock yet.

I still don't like Saad on the third line. Kunitz isn't the answer. I would swap Sikura and Saad. The exploring begins with Seabs and Keith separating. Why not Gus and Seabs? It worked before.

I interpret that as Sikura is Rockford bound because he's playing out of position for this game whereas Hayden is playing where he would be expected to play.

Actually if I had to choose between Sikura and Hayden being sent Rockford I would choose Sikura because I'm not sure Hayden gains much from more time in Rockford but I think it would be good for Sikura.

I said something similar earlier in the summer. He apparently prefers it.

Chris Kuc wrote an article that DeBrincat prefers to play his off-wing LW. I actually watched DeBrincat with Erie and when I watched he seemed to play his off-wing LW. It certainly makes more sense for a sniper to play his off-wing.
