I'm starting to think there's a real possibility Bratt is not on the opening night roster. There aren't many spots up for grabs now that Wood has signed. If one or two young forwards (who are mostly older than Bratt) such as Lappin, McLeod, Quenneville, Anderson, or Seney have a strong remainder of camp/pre-season and Bratt remains relatively invisible, he could start the year in Binghamton.

Hall, Hischier, Palmieri, Johansson, Zacha, Wood, Zajac, Noeson, Coleman, and Boyle are ten locks for opening night (barring injury) which leaves two spots in the lineup plus one or two in the press box for Bratt, that group of rookies, and/or Stafford.

Don't feel good about Kink-Lack as our tandem to start the season.

Yeah, far from ideal.

Everyone sort of assumed the 2nd half of last year was rookie fatigue but maybe Bratt's just not ready. Some time on the farm might help. He's really young.

If guys like Lappin and Q look more ready then they deserve the spot. I also like they're a little older. I also think of Lappin and Q as more versatile and a better fit for the bottom of the lineup.

I thought Speers would be better. Too bad.

I saw him in person against the Islanders two years ago (preseason game at Barclay's). He had a very good game overall and his staking/speed was quite impressive. I really thought he'd be better too.

Hall-Nico-Palmieri line looks real nice. Excited for the season to see them play. Smith has logged a lot of minutes and looks good. Definitely think he'll get those nine games.

Rest of the team is pretty whatever. Lack is just not good at all. Schneider recovery needs to be sooner than later.

The team felt very "blah", but I understand its only preseason. Once we get into the regular season things will come together.

sorry to be a downer, but we had our most non-blah players in the lineup tonight. it is what it is. we remain that one young stud away.

The top line, assuming we stick with Hall-Nico-Palms, is great. In my mind up there with the majority of top lines in the NHL. The issue with NJ this year will be the depth below that. Zacha needs to take a big step forward for the Devils to have success. Johansson needs to be healthy and productive. Wood should get more ice time and can hopefully have a bigger impact.

Devils signed JÉRÉMY GROLEAU

Also, anyone intersted in Duchene? He'll be FA soon and probably would need to take less than his current 6 mil?
