I know it was posted earlier that Beaudin and Entwistle were sent back to their junior teams but in case anyone missed the news on 7 players sent down to Rockford:
Forwards: Nilsson, Noel, Samuelsson
Defense: Carlsson, Hillman, Raddysh
Goal: Lankinen
(this was all earlier on Friday before the Sens game) |

Who is there to deter people from taking out Kane’s knee with a cheap shot? Who is there to make life miserable for opposing teams defenseman? - EnzoD Is this sarcastic? We can debate how players as deterrents for cheap shots has been proven to be untrue, if it's not. Or discuss how Kane doesn't need that since he and his knees have been fine for 11 seasons now.
But if they really absolutely needed someone for this role (they don't), Hayden has shown he's willing to stick up for teammate. Idk how Martinsen makes anyone on the opposing line miserable.
Martinsen is a replacement level forward. He should therefore be replaced with a player the Hawks are investing in for the future - Hayden, Kampf, Johnson. Martinsen's utility as a player is limited to compared to those guys. If there weren't so many players who likely need to start getting into the NHL and learning the game there, I'd be less inclined to swap Martinsen out but that's not the case. I'd accept a Martinsen-Kruger-Kampf line (it needs someone else who can transition beside Kruger) but should Hayden be the priority? |

Kane’s collarbone was broken by a cheap shot crosscheck from behind in the most dangerous 2’ from the boards. Did Alex Petrovic ever pay for that? That’s fine if Hayden is that guy. He’s got a mean right, just ask Foligno. IMO, there needs to be a guy who will make you eat a fist if you intent to injure a teammate.
Also, aggressive and physical forechecking is still a key to being a great playoff team. Name 3 forwards who Opposing DMEN are made uncomfortable by!?
If I’m an NHL Dman I’m circling the Hawks bc it’s the easiest night of work in the NHL with the lack of a physical forecheck |

Saad Toews Cat
Schmaltz AA Kane
Kunitz Kahun Sikura
Martinsen Kruger Johnson? - SoftServe
Saad/Toews/Kane
Schmaltz/AA/ADB
Its the best they can do with what they have.
Just sick and tired of hearing how Captain Serious needs help. Put the big guns together and make them earn their money.

Yes that was terrible response .I think Q coaches that out of players ,has to be . Any normal hockey player would be outraged at that point ... |

Hey Enzo. The Hawks has Bickel, Shaw and Carcillo on the team when Kane broke his collarbone, and it is not like he got run over or egregiously cheap shotted. He was lightly cross-checked and they clipped skates.
I don’t see see the corellation. |

Agree on that point. If I'm not mistaken, Dahlstrom is the longest tenured Hog (albeit by just one year as an incoming junior amongst a crew of freshmen and sophomores). - AEL_Fox
Could become a beautiful thing for Stan. Or even a severe disappointment..
I'm talking about the rise and or fall of a plethora of defensemen prospects. Year two or more for the majority of them. Only the second summer and one year experience/development for our top two 2018 choices when exhibition season begins in 2019. Just biding time until then.
And will trust that Jokiharju and Dahlstrom play in Chicago. Forsling is a maybe.
Could try to see some of the prospects play of you want to get excited about the Blackhawks future. Or go see a rerun of a not so good movie because the NHL Blackhawks are going to be in for tough sledding .....er....um....hockey this season.
I am willing to say that Mitchell, Boqvist, Beaudin are top end. I suggest that Gilbert and Hillman may be ok. Snuggerud. Kyrs, Carlsson, Tuulola need to take a next step in development. -! Are they able to? There are as many as four others could crop up so...... yes Bowman had put a lot of chips on defensemen.
Stay tuned. |

Marc Savard of the Bruins was knocked out after given a vicious cheap headshot by Matt Cooke of the Penguins. That hit basically ended his career. The Bruins had four of toughest guys in the league in the Zedano Chara, Milan Lucic, Shawn Thornton and Johnny Boychuck on their roster and Lucic was on the ice at the time of the hit. Care to explain how it was all that toughness wasn't able to PREVENT Cooke from hitting Savard? |

But now you're back to a having a top line no true playmaker.
If Martinsen plays over any of the younger guys like Hayden or Kampf, imo it could be a mistake. They're both ready for the NHL, learned all they can in the AHL, and so need to develop in the NHL - means Martinsen as a replacement level forward needs to be move aside. Johnson might be ready too, I don't know really, but he's going to get here sooner rather than later. This isn't a knock on Martinsen either - I do like him, I just think there are other priorities.
I'd love for Kampf or Johnson to come in and become a Frolik-on-the-Hawks type of player. Carve out a niche as that speedy defensive specialist that compliments Kruger. Hayden can be more of the body checker on the line. - L_B_R
So would you agree with someone like Kayun possibly getting a shot with Toews and Cat as the playmaker? |

I called it.... - DarthKane
You did Darth and yes Luke Johnson is playing himself on this team.
He's also a right-handed shot (which I mentioned the Hawks were in desparate need to up front).
The Hawks bottom 6 is looking crowded now and my guess would be that which ever lines gel the best will start the season.
The Martinsen-Kruger-Johnson line looked good last night. Let's see if Q sticks with them. |

It still pisses me off. Hell, I still want someone on the Bears to cheap-shot Aaron Rodgers as payback for the Charles Martin cheap-shot on McMahon 30 years ago. |

I liked his game a lot last night. Him and Dahlstrom saved some goals when the goalies lost the net. Snugg almost got a chance with the hawks, but he got injured. |

No they mostly just shoot left, a few forwards shoot right. |

It did seem like the defense was tighter last night after the first 5 minutes of the game. This is imho is what really needs to improve this season.
I don't know if it's just me but Saad since he's come back to us looks less athletic/coordinated on his skates, equilibrium issue? |

I wasn't alive when that happened, but when I saw that I was pulling my hair out. 85 will always be the greatest year in football. I will also always hate the Packs and the Dolphins (for cheering on teams to not have perfect records.) |

In regards to being crowded and certain players getting forced out and down to Rockford, who gets sent down if that line, in its entirety makes it? I think Kampf earned a spot. I know we will see this develop as preseason rolls to a close, I just wanted to know your thoughts. |

I think you answered your own question. The "need" for fighting has absolutely nothing to do with 'policing' the ice, it's cultural in that some people just love it as part of the game and will do anything to justify its acceptance.
I admit I enjoy it, but its time has passed. Fighting makes hockey look like a joke sport. You want to police dirty hits? Actually punish guys for doing those dirty hits. Time away from the game, lost money will clean up the sport much faster than any goon will.
It was a "great time" in hockey when fighting ruled the world, but some traditions have and should be encouraged to die. |

I have to agree, when i was younger i loved the big hits, fighting, the receiver coming over the middle and getting blown up, how many different QBs played against Buddy Ryan's team because the Bears would hurt them, then i had kids. I guess i grew up and instead of enjoying those hits i cringed realizing it's happening to someone's son, to a human being, I'm all for these rules to insure the safety of these players, I really don't want to see meat heads on the ice the more talent the better. |

I’d rather not see Martinsen make the team, there are better short-term and long-term options.
Sikura - Toews - DeBrincat
Saad - Schmaltz - Kane
Kahun - Anisimov - Kampf
Johnson - Kruger - Hayden (I might have been wrong about him)
