Man, I hope Zacha does become that type of player. If only so my son will stop saying his name and bust in the same sentence.

He'll be better.
He has a lethal shot, once its used
His passing is first class.

Combine that with his size... ewwwweeeeee! we got a gem on our hands!

that can be said for a lot of players. it's Zacha's lack of tenacity and assertiveness that has been missing, at least to my eyes..

Last year seemed like a step in the right direction. I’m expecting him to keep improving.

annnd again, sorry for the spam, but this is a hockeybuzz league, after all, with hopefully Devils fans occupying the majority of the slots.

looking for some new managers for my 20 team, full rosters, no keepers, plenty of stats league. Draft is Sept 28th at 8/9pm EST. Inbox me if you're interested!

Spot on! In no way, has Zacha shown me that killer instinct, or any creativity. Hopefully will not be lost in the sea of players that demonstrate all the great attributes but fail to put any meaningful numbers on the board. Even as an OHL'r his numbers were not earth shattering at 64 points. I believe he was the lowest points total from junior hockey drafted in the first 20 picks. And that is a painful draft to look at considering Proverov, Werenski, Connor, Barzal were all more productive, and drafted after Zacha.

Side note: Surely we could have offered a better package deal for Karlsson than SJS!!!!

a good way to evaluate players is to only talk about their intangibles. it leads to really interesting discussions.

Ottawa did not want him innthe east. I think they actually get an additional pick if karlsson ends back in the east....

the more I look at other teams' starting rosters the more depressed ours looks. was watching some Barzal tape.. we could've had Barzal. BARZAL OR Provorov would've legit put this team on pace to be where it needs to be at this stage in the rebuild- with a bonafide #1 AND #2 center, or with a rather legit top defensive pair with Vats and Provorov. What a waste. WASTE. How do you flub on 6th overall with so much great talent available??
I maintain that this team lives or dies based on Zacha's development. How great would it have been to have 2 21 and under dynamo centers on the same team right now? smh. How many other teams have had success with two great centers?
Really hope Zacha turns into a consistent 60 point guy. You can really only afford to have so many down years without hitting on top 6 draft picks, thus delaying the rebuild and continuing in dark ages. I can deal with a few years of rebuilding, but if it doesn't pan out into at least a Cup Finals team it'll all be a wasted decade. You want a franchise guy with 4th, 6th, 1st, and at least a top 6 player at 12th overall. We got one with 4th, got one with 1st.. but you can't miss on 2 of the other 4 years in your rebuild. Bah. Looking forward to Monday. I'm ready to face whatever reality Zacha shows us. fingers crossed.

The more you say which players we could have had instead of Zacha, the more likely they will just swap with them one day. Keep doing, I promise it'll work.

If it makes you feel better, looking at this roster, we will have another early pick in a deep draft this year. Barring Hall putting up back to back Hart seasons and Schneider bounces back in a big way this team is nowhere near a playoff competitor.

Life wouldn’t be the same for any of us without the constant menstral tones of each Pomegrant post.

P.S. +/- is the single most valuable hockey stat period. Just saying.

Hmmm.... Did not know that there was contingent picks based on the fact that he remains out west. Regardless, he was a bargain price (even rentals at the trade line fetch more and this guy is a superstar!!!). Nonetheless, pavelski, Karlsson, Thorts, will all be UFA's this offseason. Hopefully we can poach one come ufa.

Yes, but we want to be in a better position than that this year with halls contract looming. Last year should've been the last down year, and hopefully zacha isn't a miss. It is what it is. I either want a top 5 pick, or for bratt, Zacha, nico, and one of the other kids, to all turn into 65 point players lol.

I agree with this. Tho i do expect Hisch to take another big step forward, and mojo to have a solid season, hall and plams will be great again, butch and vats too. I do expect Noesen/Zacha/Greene/KK/Bratt to have down years. I just feel that they were all playing above their heads and will be exposed for the depth players I believe them to be. Really hope I am wrong. Without another true top 2 RW, and another top pairing D, this teams only hope is Schneids having a vezina caliber season.

Getzlaf was also at a similar, although a better slot, at this time in his career, and that was Zacha's comparison when he was drafted.

You really never know. A power forward center would certainly be an asset in the playoffs.
