So would Suzuki be better than any of the Sharks players traded? Appears he was what was on offer from Vegas.

I truly believe Vegas dodged a bullet not getting Karlsson.

Worst trade in NHL history? Stop already. The Islanders traded Luongo and Jokinen for Parrish and Kvasha so they could draft DiPietro first over Heatley or Gaborik. The Bruins trading Seguin was worse. Plenty of trades have been worse.

This is not good, but you gotta love Tanner's reaction to everything.

This is the worst trade in the league in 20 years. Easily.

One last point on this, the first round pick has a better than zero percent chance of being a lottery pick. The sharks are stacked this year, but with an aging core and an increasingly competitive western conference, it's very presumptuous to suggest that first round pick is going to be a late one. Thornton/Pavelski/EK65 all UFA after this season and it's not like the sharks can afford to bring them all back in 2020. Their bottom six took a legit hit by trading Tierney, and while I'm not saying they're going to miss the playoffs in 2020, it's entirely possible they might.

Now back to the whine parade...

The Sharks are loaded for a decade are you really talking about their bottom 6? Whatever gets you through the nite

They'd have been better off trading EK straight up to Colorado for their 2019 1st back. You can almost guarantee thats gonna be a Top 3 pick

Top 3 pick >>>> That "treasure trove" of premium assets they got from San Jose

Erik Karlsson is mediocre to bad at playing defense and his ankle injury cost him half a step. Karlsson will be 29 years old, and looking for a max term and $$ deal next summer that San Jose probably can't afford. He is essentially a rental player for 1 year without a contract extension, and considering the negotiating leverage that Ottawa had (NONE), it could have been a much worse return.

EDIT: WhyTHE (frank) did Ottawa send the Avs their (likely top 3) 1st round pick to only marginally upgrade from Turris to Duchene??? Days like today make me realize that Stan Bowman isn't the worst GM in the NHL....but a close 3rd to worst behind Chiarelli and whoever is in Ottawa.

I am sorry EnzoD, but Bowman doesn't even medal in this event. Bowman is no better than 4th worse GM.
The likes of Chiarelli....Dorien (or whoever that Ottawa clown is)..and Bergevin make it a slam dunk that Bowman can't finish in the coveted Top 3.
Still, I think he is a medal contender....and is a Top 5 Worse GM...so he is within range of these guys. Another crap move or two and he may make the Top 3 at a later date!!!

I remember when Sens fans were so brutal to Leaf fans about trading their 1st for Kessel. You gave up your first for a guy you is so much older and worse, and will be UFA next summer and you are BY FAR the worst team in the NHL.
HAHAHA.

Pretty similar situation. Although the age of both parties might not be as relevant. If (I think it's rather likely) Duchene is traded, both will have been given away to start the rebuild proper.

I used to think the silver lining was that they'd be able to trade Duchene at the deadline, but after that return on Karlsson I'm far more pessimistic.
