Matthews is far more mature than you give him credit, and his #1 priority is to make himself the best 200ft player in the league. He knows he isn't there yet. This year is to take it to the next level - not to spend the year distracted by the trappings of being team Captain. He is playing for a big new contract next year and he'd rather put up a banner year, than get bogged down being a media darling. The guy is 100% about winning.

So true, he's terrible. Only coach who has needed good teams to win in the sport's history. People just don't seem to see it.
