Man some of you guys are so paranoid. Part of a players development is giving them responsibility. Leaders lead & should be given that responsibility. Is Matthews ready to be a leader amongst his group?

I have no view on whether the team will/won't be successful with who has the letters. I do believe Matthews could play very well given more responsibility though. All this other noise around my comments is just that, Leafs fans female doging & whinging about poop they have invented!

How is my comment paranoia.... I'm making a statement saying there's gotta be better things to talk about, maybe about this season in general. This debate has been going on forever. Only see the headlines for it 15 times a day. Do I agree players could benefit from it ofcourse but when your best player goes on interviews saying he doesn't care whether he wears it or not. Time to just play hockey. Did Phaneuf become a great player after he became captain or made a difference he changed a damn radio station... well you took initiative here ya go. And no I'm not comparing Matthew's to Phaneuf.

No one is paranoid. Matthews would be fine with a letter he just wasn't in the top 3 best choices at the moment. When Marleau is gone he will get a letter.

Much ado about nothing and needing clicks is all it is. Media and EK etc all have to make the stories to generate attention, happens all the time in the fishbowl of Toronto. It's as big a non issue as when supposedly Babs and Matthews were at war with one another coming out of the playoffs with Matthews going home and then Babs travels there to talk. Biggest joke of reporting there was. This garbage is what players hate and turns them off a lot of the time.

I heard Matthews has entered into therapy due to not being named an assistant Captain. Luckily the NHLPA is paying for it. You know how expensive therapists can be.

I just hope he is OK. Babcock's mind games really shook him up badly. Last I heard he was in the fetal position in the hyperbaric pulling on is tongue with a wrench.
