Everything I've heard on NHL Radio is that Ottawa told Duchesne and Stone that they want them to lead the kids during the rebuild and that they traded Karlson to get the best return possible so expect them to work hard to resign them. Of course that's probably smoke and mirrors from Melnyk's camp since they got serious egg on their faces right now even before the Karlson trade.
Your logic makes no sense. They are both on a contract year so they want to play to put up the numbers to enhance their UFA status. On the other hand if they sat out while healthy it would impair their negotiating position. - Djapana
That guy consistently has absurd takes, please pay no attention. This is not football, players are not holding out. You need to play to showcase your skill in order to receive the next contract.

I understand it's not football.
But just tell me what Duchene and Stone accomplish by playing. Again I understand they will to get paid. But other then that.
All the risk lies with the players in this situation.
is this a serious question? you go the to take the bait, well done. - rinaldo
I am bored.
They won't do it publicly but I wouldn't put it past their agents are possibly trying to put pressure on them to be moved sooner then later. Unless they want to stay in Ottawa.
I don't see how 2 guys in the prime of their careers would want to risk chance of injury right before a huge off season for them. Especially on a team that is in complete tear down.
And l am just talking. I understand that guys don't hold out in the NHL like the NFL. But i do think it's an interesting view. And i Understand someone could say Simmonds is in the same boat. But in his situation he does have to prove he is healthy and his team is making an effort to compete and try to win.

Is it weird that I think about who Hak will pick to take shootouts?
G, Jake, And NP?
Is JvR any good at it? - Marc D
Two seasons ago, I’m almost positive JvR was almost perfect in the shootout. I’m not sure what he’s done before or after that season. I just remember CBC bowing to him in that area.
