Probably wouldn't happen but if I am stone or Duchesne I hold out until moved. Last year of their deal. Why risk an injury playing for that dumpster fire this year. They couldn't even tank right because they gave their first rounder to Colorado.

be very dumb to even entertain such a thought if I was said player.

Yup, Detroit and Ottawa are going to be bad for a while but at least Detroit has Zadina and their 2019 first. Ottawa may suck for a very long time.

If you knew you had to move Karlsson i have no clue how you don't let Colorado pick this year and keep your 2019 pick.

If you move Karlsson at the draft you could have still got a 2018 1st rounder back and still be in the hunt for Hughes in 2019

Maybe. But if they go out and suffer a Pronger type injury then where does it leave them since they have no security after this year.

Again I said it wouldn't happen but you wonder what is going on in their head with knowing they are playing for a team that is tanking while right in their prime and chance for huge paydays this offseason

If Vorobyev can earn the 3C spot, I'd also be fine with:

G-Coots-TK
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Vorobyev-Simmonds

Vorobyev is a very good passer/playmaker which is what you need between Lindblom and Simmonds.

Sign me up for this line-up. The best part- it is very realistic.

Could be wrong but I believe if the player sits out the contract slides and the team retains his rights.

Detroit's issue is the barren wasteland they have for a defensive prospect pool. Goalie is meh. They have some good pieces up front though. Hughes would change everything because he is that good, but they really need some picks to pan out on defense

I think it's very possible, especially now that Lehtera only has one year left. However, they seem to be pretty deep with forwards in LHV so it may just be that if a guy like Weal doesn't crack the starting lineup, they look to trade him.

two things...

If Weise is gone in any capacity I see your drinking picking up dramatically due to celebration, probably a celebration that would rival a Stanley Cup celebration, just short...

We also need to have a doctor as close as possible to you, we want to be sure you heart could take the news of Weise being gone...

Your right.

But I would put pressure on management to get moved. I don't see any long term future there for those 2 guys.

Duchene, no s.

If they hold out they don't get paid. In Duchene's case, he'd be losing $79,268.29 per game.

That's my guess too.

It's just a huge risk as both guys are only signed this year with a chance for what will most likely be the last huge long term deal in the off season.

OTT may be desperate for a 1st round pick this year...if I’m Hexy I monitor the situation closely and see if Stone or Dutch can be had around the TDL for a playoff push. I would prefer Stone. Hell we can even keep Simmonds for all I care and have a loaded top9 and let Wayne walk after we win the Cup

Not really.

I understand you go to play the game but you also play to win which they have no chance in hell of doing in Ottawa. They also play the game to get paid.

I understand everyone takes a risk going out and playing but Ottawa has made moves that now put them in a tanking process. A procees that will go a couple years especially missing their won first in 2019.

FWIW I think Ratcliffe will be a perfect replacement for Simmonds. I would imagine that Simmonds' primary responsibility (PP) gets covered mostly by JVR and Patrick, which leaves Ratcliffe to fill the hole at RW in the bottom 6. I think he projects to offer more at evens. He could be more than 1 year away, but it is one of those positions the Flyers are in that I think will end up falling into place pretty well (unlike trying to find 3 defense pairings)

I think we’ll be fine between a Ratcliffe and Allison for replacing Simmonds eventually. Inb4 someone says “how can you assume a prospect with zero NHL experince can replace a 30 goal scorer.”

Don't doubt it.

With having the cap space they do they could make a play for someone like that and then look to get them resigned.

Your logic makes no sense. They are both on a contract year so they want to play to put up the numbers to enhance their UFA status. On the other hand if they sat out while healthy it would impair their negotiating position.
