Here in Pittsburgh we know what this experience is like, except in baseball. The Pirates owner Bob Nutting frequently sells off the team's top players when they get too expensive. He did it again this past off-season, ushering in a new era of losing. He basically has it worked out so that he profits no matter what and has no motivation to keep the more expensive players, causing the team to become a de facto minor league team.

There is a big difference between tearing down and rebuilding a team because of bad contracts and over the hill players and doing it simply out of cheapness. The Senators were *one goal* away from the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. They went from that to being completely gutted in a little over a year. Not even Nutting can claim an accomplishment like that, although he does have his hand in a 20 year sub-.500 season streak (something that has never been matched in any major pro sport).

Couple firsts, a second, an underrated 3C thats works his ass off, and a NHL quality defenseman. A couple other throw ins that i dont know much about admittedly. I would say Ottawa did sufficient in getting as much as possible for a rental player.
