FWIW....
Per @FriedgeHNIC, the Golden Knights offered Ottawa six pieces for Erik Karlsson.
So either the price has come down...or the "source" full of crap....SHOCKER!!! |

What if he doesn't really to play in CALIF. Do you pay big time and he walks after a season. As a Flyers fan, we could use Karlsson, but I would give anything big, knowing I gave away a good prospect, and he walks. Not easy to make a deal here unless you are foolish |

" I know this all too well, because I too was told just last week that this would get done soon, and Kevin Allen of USA Today came on our podcast last week and said a few GMs felt it would be done in a few days as well...."
All this stuff you're "hearing", all these sources giving you so much information for weeks. Yet, nothing you mention has ever turned out .. why is that ? |

Has SJ looked at their defense? No holes. They have a pretty stacked defense.
They need help at forward.
They can move Burns back to forward... |

Your point system means nothing without the other teams to compare them to. Otherwise it's just a number that you made up that references players production and salary.
Why not use the advanced stat like point shares.
https://www.hockey-refere...HL_2018_skaters-misc.html
For example, Connor McDavid has the following:
Offensive Point Shares (OPS): 10.5
Defensive Point Shares (DPS): 2.6
Point Shares (PS): 13.1
Another Example. Washington's Team:
Name / OPS / DPS / PS
Matt Niskanen / 1.8 / 4.8 / 6.6
Dmitry Orlov 1.8 4.4 6.2
John Carlson 6 3.9 9.8
Christian Djoos 0.6 2.7 3.3
Brooks Orpik -0.9 2.3 1.3
Alex Ovechkin 9.3 1.9 11.2
Nicklas Backstrom 5 1.9 6.9
Evgeny Kuznetsov 7.1 1.7 8.8
Tom Wilson 1.5 1.7 3.2
T.J. Oshie 2.9 1.5 4.4
Chandler Stephenson 0.2 1.4 1.6
Jay Beagle 0.2 1.2 1.4
Lars Eller 2.3 1.1 3.4
Madison Bowey 0.4 1.1 1.5
Jakub Vrana 1.5 1 2.6
Andre Burakovsky 1.6 0.9 2.6
Alex Chiasson 0.8 0.8 1.6
Devante Smith-Pelly -0.2 0.8 0.5
Brett Connolly 2 0.7 2.6
Aaron Ness 0 0.3 0.3
Travis Boyd -0.1 0.2 0.1
Braden Holtby 0 0 8.3
Philipp Grubauer 0 0 6.5
Anthony Peluso 0 0 0
Liam O'Brien -0.1 0 0
Shane Gersich 0 0 0
Tyler Graovac -0.1 -0.1 -0.2
Totals / 43.6 / 36.2 / 94.5

70 points is 70 points whether from the back end or the front. Doesn't matter. |

Having EK and Burns on the back end will make your entire forward group look more dangerous |

For those saying the Sharks should avoid Karlsson and need to replace Thornton.. the question is...
Replace him with who..? Tavares said no, Seguin just re-signed so he's off the table for next year..
Karlsson would make SJ a pretty scary team to play against.. OR, maybe they use Karlsson to get that top C. Who knows.. either way, SJ wants to win a Cup with its current core. It's now or never so might as well go for it if the options are there. |

You can get away without having an elite #1 C if you have a score of Karlsson/Burns/Vlasic. All of a sudden Couture as your top C becomes a lot more tolerable |

I don't think Tampa lets anybody else do the deal. They have too many horses in reserve. More guys in their system then they have places to move them. - spatso
But why would they even bother?
If everyone is right and he's going there after this coming season, why would Tampa give anything for him when they can get him for free?
Makes no sense. |
