Watch something like this is what's going to happen. No top prospect and a top 4D man with picks.

The great irony is listening to Leaf fans say we beat the Sens 15 years ago but it is inconsequential that the Sens went to the SC semi finals this past year. Perhaps you need to think about that.

ironic indeed. lets think about it.

Too funny. After 50 people stopped counting the Leafs epic fails. Losers are what losers do and nobody does that in better style than the leafs.

I wonder if we will see mass suicides, if, as I expect, the Leafs tank like Columbus did a few years ago when their rookies had played so well the previous year.

It this kind of stuff that sets you up for the big fail. All the same things said last year. You guys get suckered every year. Same old, same old.

Dorion was finalist for the GM of the year just three months ago.

Too funny..

Really! Did you know the Sens finished ahead of the Leafs in the standings last year? Did you know the Sens went to the ECF losing the 7th game in double over time? These are the kind of scoreboard related facts that many Leaf fans want to subject to creative interpretation.

Scoreboard matters.

This thread is for Sens fans discussing their team. Not for Leaf fans wanting to do team comparisons. I know you miss me but it is time for everyone to move on. If your up drinking in the middle of the night and looking for help, send me a private message. I am flattered by how you all repost and discuss my old tweets nearly a year after the fact.

I promise i will do my annual leaf evaluation and post it on the forum in a couple of months. I hope you and your son are continuing to enjoy your weekend outings. But, remember, it is important to take care of yourself. Go to bed, get some sleep and see if things are not better tomorrow.

I read (maybe Garrioch tweet??) where Sens said “no” this week to a Vegas offer that included two roster players, two prospects and two picks. Apparently the offers are strong from several teams.

I understand. Denial is not telling lies to others. It is internalizing the lies so you actually believe what you want to believe. So, even thought the numbers paint an entirely different result you just tell yourself that the Sens are old and Leafs are young.

Groupthink is where denial becomes entrenched wishing a culture or environment and reinforces beliefs or a set of beliefs that are not consistent with factual reality. The Leafs are the 12th oldest team in the NHL.

Deal with it.

Great historical chestnuts. But Sens fans on this site don't want to read about commentary rooted from the era and tradition of Harold Ballard. So, I will not comment further. But, I will keep you in my prayers.

Since the Pacioretti trade, is it possible for Vegas to make solid offer?

They don't want to offer up Cody Glass. Theodore is good but not the lead asset for this kind of deal.

Unless the Bobby Ryan salary dump is the most important part of the deal I just don't see Vegas being able to package anything close to what Tampa, Dallas and several other teams might do.

I doubt vgk will be able to take on Ryan now that they have patches

Someone else mentioned the clarksson contract. Does the team have to pay for that, or is it one that just counts against the cap?

Man, I really hope they don't include Ryan in that deal.

Ryan is apparently a really good guy in the dressing room. He is really good with the young guys and with the minor staff (trainers, equipment, etc.,).

During the rebuild, Ryan might be a positive presence.

I sure hope they don't complicate a Karlsson trade by making Ryan a mandatory part of it. It looks like the Sens are moving Gaborik to LTIR. Options will surface for Ryan over the next 4 years (including possible buy out down the road).

Clarkson is LTIR. Up to the beginning of the season he counts against the cap. Once the season begins the team is given cap relief on the insured value of the contract.

Clarkson is only a problem if a team is up against the cap during the off season and they are trying to do a cap challenging deal. Vegas has lots of cap space.

I think yesterday's news that Gaborik is going on LTIR gives us more insight into the Phaneuf trade. From Garrioch, "he can be placed on the long-term injury reserve list at the start of the season and approximately 80 per cent of his $4.875 million salary this year will be covered by insurance."

Really great article by Lehner in the Athletic today about his demons and addiction issues.

I saw a reference to that, good for him. I work in the field of addictions. People with high profiles (sports, entertainment, media, politics) face some heavy challenges when dealing with recovery issues. It is not something you can do through half measures. His doing a feature with The Athletic is a positive step. He has my full support and admiration.

Don't get too distracted by the bipolar diagnosis. Most addicted folks are bipolar as a direct result to their using and extreme behaviours. Not always, but once they stop the addictive behaviours the bipolar symptoms are also addressed and may not even require regular medication.

Great news story. Irony, it is from the same summer where one of my favourite Sens personality died in a tragic boating accident (Ray Emery).

Ownership and management were doing so well not speaking. It was the best non move this team made in 3 years. Now they speak. Where is this new pr woman Aimee Deziel all this? She is going to ruin my 6 months of her over/under departure. I now lower it to oct.1

Im going to check a few b-sens games out this year. That club at least is sane.

Not sure if this has been posted, but explains some of your big bosses comments in the video.

Also gives a pretty clear objective to start with although it probably means Karlsson will be traded tomorrow.

The once proud Senators organization. Does nothing now but grovel their lame exscuses and made up answers to cover their ineptness. Truly an organization that has become a hallmark of what not to do...

You know how this pleases me.

Based on their performance last year? Pst, they went to ECF. Remember when I told you last year that knowledgable insiders were predicting the Sens would be the dark horse team in playoffs. Well, get ready, they will come out of the gates much stronger and harder than last year.

The Ottawa Senators made a stunning run in the post-season, coming within a single goal of the Stanley Cup final. And while there is much to celebrate surrounding the greatness of Erik Karlsson, the resiliency of Craig Anderson and Clarke MacArthur, and the tactical forcefulness of coach Guy Boucher, it’s worth noting that the future looks pretty bright in Ottawa, too.
From two-way center Colin White to Memorial Cup champion Logan Brown, the Sens have some nice pieces up front. On the back end, they have the newly-crowned best defenseman in all of junior: Thomas. Chabot.
