Or maybe it's the kind of situation he should try to take advantage on, just for a change.

on the question of naming a captain on the habs ,,, IMO i would just go without one , history has shown us that captain's don't last too long in the pressure cooker called montreal,, turgeon , carbonneau, koivu,, why would we need a captain??

I like Gallagher but Habs fans have to stop crying about the refs not being fair. If you remove your Habs glasses and view him as the rest of the league does, he is pretty much on par with Marchand and the other players that "walk the line." His grit is great, his emotion and work ethic are good for the team...but people in Montreal have to stop constantly crying foul when he gets called for things he should get called for.
- JLO961

The complaint isn't about calls against him...it's about not getting obvious calls for infractions committed against him. Gallagher tends to get mid 30s annually in PIMs and has never been suspended or fined. Frankly this comment shows the glasses you view it through and it's funny and ironic to read

I don't see a trade between the 2 that would bring Nylander to Montreal, who knows... I think Bergevin should be targeting yound D men at this point anyhow
- obie

We did stock up on center but none of them are NHL proven at this point, where Nylander is a proven 20g 40a.

But yeah they need a young D who can be a quaterback, probably at the draft.

He's a proven 20g 40a guy playing on Matthews' wing. Feel like the Habs have done this make a successful winger a C before and the results haven't worked out. Maybe I'm remembering wrong..

To me, even if it makes Pete unhappy, the obvious choice is Gallagher

can't find a better example on the ice ( and off perhaps) he young and should be there for a long time...

I like Shea, but kinda don't want to name a Captain that will be on his way out... Name a captain that will be for the next 7-8 years...

And even if they managed to get Nylander, his contact demands aren't gonna lower, they have to pay him 8+ or have him holding out

On his way out?

He has 8 years left in his contract.

And not one thing Bergevin said implies he's gonna get traded.

Not sure Gallagher can be captain and play the same style, his job is to play on the line...always. Weber is someone much more respected the refs and the Habs Sr. management, that's why he will be the next captain.
