Bruins are clearing cap space for Karlsson. I still think the bruins are a sleeper team for EK65 yet. Chara not getting any younger!

Had to happen sometime.
Miller has proved to have a better all around game + the kids are almost ready.
Must have been a tough morning for the boys.
He was an excellent Bruin.

No sense in keeping K miller and McQuaid, who are basically the same player with the same salary.

Lost a lot of mean though. . .

Love McQuaid, but how are you guys honestly against this move? Cap freed from the press box to hopefully add to wing in some capacity. McQuaid was almost definitely the 8th man, and I'm not so sure he'd beat out Vaakanainen in camp this year. Tough as nails, but that's not going to beat the best teams.

Chara - McAvoy
Carlo - Moore
Krug - Miller
Gryz

That bottom four is competitive enough there, because Gryz/Miller/Moore shouldn't sit either. Where does McQuaid fit? With Zboril and Kampfer in Providence they've got troops for injury that aren't nearly 3 mil in dead space for the majority of the year.

I have been waiting for either Quaider or K. Miller to be traded for a year or two now. Sad to see the toughness go, but at the same time, I knew it was going to happen at some point.

Just so we are all clear. Kevan Miller is a much better player than Adam McQuaid. McQuaid was a great Bruin but very injury prone. Many of those injuries were self inflicted. The move had to be made. He was going to be the odd man out regardless.

You could watch McQuaid block a shot off the ankle, grimace in pain and ten seconds later. Put that same ankle out in front of another shot. Yeah, its ballsy but its also stupid.

In the end, the toughness meter for the B's just plummeted. Will be sad to see him go.

Sad to see the long time warrior leave, BUT a great trade, frees up 2mill plus. Like others said, he was most likely the 8th guy. It's the right move. One of the toughest guys in the league, always had his teammates' backs, and was a part of the '11 Cup team. Lots to like about him. But, again, a good move for Team Sweely.

Writing was on the wall with this one. The picks are nice Kampfer is Providence bound. I imagine if he sees NHL time, the Bruins have been decimated by injuries.

Thanks for the cup McQuaid!

I would love that but the odds on this are super low.

Great move IMO, as said, he or miller had to go, games changing, McQuiads game improved a lot in the last two years, but he was overpaid for what he brought to the table,
and it frees an obvious log jam in the bottom 4 d man.

This is great...now Sweens can give up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a player of Quaider's caliber at the trade deadline.
I personally would have like to have seen Krug move for a scoring winger. People talk about Miller/McQuaid being the same type of player but so are Krug and Gryz. (Krug's more proven offensively but Gry is a lot less expensive and better defensively.

Going to be missed for sure but Killer is a heavyweight the guy is a tough as they come and is stupidly strong he just doesn't have that scary look McQuaid has.

This kind of thinking will prevent the team from winning. I don't like it but, the league has changed. Hanging on to slow, plodding heavy weights will keep them a step behind. Speed, talent, transition and depth scoring is what Tampa had over Boston in the playoffs. Winning the fight doesn't count for much anymore.

i really can't get over people thinking this is a horrible trade. fine McQuaid was beast, so what? the game is changing, we have a glut of defenseman and he never played a full season in his career.

i don't get it.

Boston has Miller and Backes who routinely fight. Chara will mix it up despite his age. And depending on the 4th line, I'm assuming one of the energy guys there will throw down as well.

I like Mcquaid's game, but they would have had too many D, and they need to resign Carlo and McAvoy soon enough. I just hope Carlo finds his game. Last year was unimpressive
