Boy, How sad that Nick schmaltz is looked at as the go to guy leading the team in to the next generation. Back to the 90s we go, Marha,Yakupov, Vrobiev, The ABC line, WTF.
I can't wait till the first day of training camp when Corey Crawford is nowhere to be found, after big chief Blackhawk already said he would be there.

All that is left is the early overpay contract.

#embracethetank

Seriously though, he is a good player, a piece of the future, whose role is not (to me anyway) entirely clear yet. Not enough evidence in to cement him as a water carrying center yet.

OK uncle John have it your way. You're doing a hell of a job getting these fans to believe that a lot of these guys actually would be formidable NHL players when half of them wouldn't even wind up On other NHL teams potential draft boards.
What's your plans for little Stashu when the team starts out 2-11?

Is this thinking in hopes of replicating past success with:

Schmaltz - Toews - Panik
(sub in Saad for Panik now)

Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
(sub in DeBrincat for Panarin now)

Those past lines had success so the model logically makes sense. Yet your guess is as good as mine as to what Q will roll out.

Kind of, except Saad is waaaaay better than Panik

Paciorretty traded to Vegas for Tatar, Sukuzi and a 2nd round pick.

Looks like they picked up a nice prospect for Pacioretty. And Tatar is a useful NHL player.

I thought Montreal would have received more for him. Sounds like his agent really soured the market for him.

And the rumor of him wanting to play in Florida after his current contract didn't help either.

If the Hawks made that trade, would the equivalent assets have been something like Anisimov, Sikura, and 2nd round pick? I wouldn't have done it if that was the deal. Maybe swap out Sikura for one of the D prospects.

My thinking was Anisimov, Beaudin and a 2nd.

I'm not the biggest Pacioretty fan so it doesn't bother me the Hawks didn't get him but would have been nice for Stan to do something pf significance this offseason.

Nice thinking AEL. My top 6 possible line blog is coming out this morning which builds off some of these theories.

He did:

Built for the future for a franchise that wasn’t going to compete for a Cup this year WITH OR WITHOUT someone like Pacioretty.

Good draft, didn’t give up any quality youth....

Let’s see where it all goes.

Imo it really had more to do with Pacioretty not necessarily wanting to sign an extension right away with a new team. He kind of implied, like Skinner did, that he would take some time to evaluate his situation if he were traded before signing. It why a trade with LA didn't work out - Patches wouldn't sign immediately. He might still sign pretty quick now but the message was out there for teams to have to weigh when trying to decided if they wanted to trade for him.

The did a bit better than Carolina to me too. First cause Suzuki is a much higher quality prospect than Pu. And second cause Tatar is already used to being on a rebuilding team so he can help their younger team now be a little more NHL ready and/or he can always be flipped for picks/prospects. The 2nd will be higher for Carolina but the value of picks by the 2nd round is almost flat so no big deal there.

But man, the Habs really picked 1AM on the east coast to announce this lol.

*NEW* blog up:

Who's in the top 6 this year for the #Blackhawks?

I have a few options of what they could be looking at:

Good point. I'm on board with being patient but will be nice to see if a plan starts to take shape this year. Dealing Hinostroza with that Hossa deal makes 0 sense if that cap space isn't used effectively this season IMO. He's got time still...

Justin, LBR, Wiz, Darth, (others too)

So Ejdsell is not a great skater, not a great stick handler, and not that physical. But he has a great shot, is a good passer, can find the open space, and has a long stick for the poke check. Who would you say is a comparable around the NHL?

I think someone who can find open space and shoot the puck consistently can be a success in the NHL.

Debrincat is one example.

A pure shooter/sniper/scorer is hard to find. How many have the Hawks had in recent years. Kane, Panarin, Sharp, Larmer.... maybe a few others, but it is a pretty short list.
