Would those be their hopeful Blackhawk numbers in the Show?

The Baby Hawks didn't win many board battles or stick on stick battles - so from that standpoint they're ready to play for the Hawks

But, I was hoping to see Sikura-Kahun-Fortin play well as a line and play well individually and that is what I saw. Very pleased with their play. Next, I wanted to see the top-4 d-men play well and for the most part I thought they played pretty well - they all showed there is something there worthy to be 1st round picks destined to play for the Hawks someday.

The only real negative takeaway I have, other than the goalie, was Ejdsell - I thought he was terrible at handling the puck. Reminded me of Toews the last couple season where the puck seem to get caught up in his skates or bounce off his stick. Hopefully he was just rusty because if that is the real him - not good.

Two guys who caught my eye a few times were Knott and Entwistle, looking forward to seeing more of them.

Three more games to go - lots more opinions to form and change.

It sure was nice to watch hockey - yeah buddy.

Thanks for the detailed observations from yesterday's game. Like you said in another post, it's only one game but wonder if the Fortin, Kahun, and Sikura line has potential to be a set at some point during the regular season, especially if Anisimov is slotted in the top 6.

Great to hear about Knott and Entwistle standing out in a good way. I really am rooting for both of them. Knott is getting leapfrogged on the prospect depth chart so he needs to make some noise so he's noticed to earn a call-up at some point. As for Entwistle, I see him as the big, physical 3C of the future for the Hawks.

Not good about Edjsell. I felt his first few games in the NHL were just as you described but this time against other prospects who he should theoretically be able to hang with, if not, outplay. Shake out the jitters and play stronger here on out.

Prospect camps and tournaments are awesome to get the excitement back and dream big about what could be with the youngsters. Tempering expectations, though:

Last year's prospect tournament was when DeBrincat broke out finally and gave us a glimpse of things to come.

On the other side of the coin, Snuggerud and Press both had at least one if not 2 monster games. Snuggerud got injured in training camp so had a slow start to 2017-18, and Press spent most of his time with Indy and isn't in North America anymore.

For some reason I kinda lump Ejdsell and Enwistle together - probably because they were acquired via trade, have good size and have unusual last names that start with "E" - but anyway ... after the first few viewings I'm less impressed with Ejdsell and more impressed with Entwistle, especially now that I know he can play center.

I've only seen Entwistle 3 times - twice in the U20 in July and yesterday in Traverse City. He stood out in a good way in all three viewings.

Very good!

But these four:

Hillman-Jokiharju
Carlsson-Tuulola

... might end up being Rockford's top 4 at some point.

Dahlstrom, Gilbert, Snuggerud might have something to say about that, but it's a great problem to have.

- Justin Lowe

The Hillman-Jokiharju pairing is intriguing as it seems like the coaches desire them together either for developmental purposes and/or for future partnership so they grow chemistry early. These two were paired a lot during prospect camp and now for Game 1 of this tourney.

The player that I noticed that had some grit in terms of board and stick battles, only has a contract with the Hogs as of now. That was Connor Moynihan, couple of decent hits as well.

I wouldn't start attempting a Traverse City performance on a checking line as a grade out factor on anyone whether their last name started with "E" or not.

Remember all the unimpressive reports about DeBrincat in the developmental camp and then now the Hawks touting that the last year champions teams success was the breakout for DeBrincat?

It's a exhibition tourney and the winner gets bragging rights, but I can tell you from years of experience that teams that "win" these things don't necessarily mean the parent clubs farm team is on the verge of stocking their next Cup team.

So much depends upon the goalies in both nets too. (See past hawk season.)

It is clear that guys have been purposefully line combed together for various success and there is a checking line that's job and viewing result is far different to the eye than one of the scoring lines.

The other thing clear is Dominik Kahun is here to try and win a job sooner than later and how he fares ion the dot will be a deciding factor, that future hawk teams will be looking for speed, thinking fast guys with quick reactions with sticks. and shots, but there will also be lots of room for big with deadly shots because scoring will be as important.

see you at 3....top corner where the hawks shoot twice.

Interesting to see who stands out individually. Was nice to see Beaudin play a decent game and flash some skill. Fortin seems like maybe he has a chance to earn a job, at least he looks to be playing well still.

Sikura has a lot of eyes on him, to see if he is actually NHL ready. Could be a big deal for the Hawks if he is or isn't when it comes to depth next season. They could use his talents in the lineup. When I look at the forward group for the Hawks, they aren't bad but questions will come quickly if the injury bug comes around. To me, the forward group doesn't have much to backfill if the top end guys get banged up.

Was at the first game of the tournament yesterday and the thing that I notice was the size of the Columbus players compared to the Hawks players. The only player that really made me notice was Boqvist he is going to be a good one and I think he is only 1-2 years away. As for Jokiharju from what I saw yesterday he is not ready for the big show. For the forwards Fortin has NHL speed but can he put it all together and i really liked how Entwistle looked. I know it is only one game and I will see how the progress over the tournament.

Despite the fanfare around Boqvist and Jokiharju, particularly their offensive prowess, I think Beaudin, Mitchell, and Krys will surprise as being the more balanced and well rounded of the blueline prospects. All 3 have been reported as working hard on their play without the puck with Krys even earning high praise from his BU coaches after a much stronger sophomore season last year.

You're correct in that there's not many options at all to backfill if there's injury to the top 6. Injuries in the bottom 6? No problem with the depth of role players in Rockford who could fill in without screwing up proper slotting of players to appropriate lines.

Besides Sikura and Kahun, possibly Hayden on a short-term basis, not a whole lot of top 6 talent coming up.

Unless Chad Krys has REALLY grown more game, I am not sure how rounded he is...there are continual bouts where guys take pucks from Himont breakouts and I am not so sure it's a matter of speed, even strength, but more an unbroken developmental habit unlearned.

I wasn't trying to assess their all-around games only mention that Entwistle made some nice plays and seemed to be around the puck a lot whereas Ejdsell had trouble receiving passes and handling the puck a bunch of times. It's just one game so I'm not suggesting those are died in the wool assessments - only what this unprofessional but long time observer observed.

NHL or bust: Dominik Kahun prepared to return to Germany if he's not included on #Blackhawks' NHL roster

We already knew Kahun had a euro-out clause like Panarin, Kempny, and Forsling (for a limited time) in the past but this is the first confirmation that he would use it if he did not make the NHL roster. Tikhonov had one in the past as well but did not use it when he was demoted and then traded. None of the others were ever had need to use it.

yeah, please don't think I was directing my thought at you either...and I think Entwistle has ton of attributes that points towards the pro game...

the beauty of young big forwards like this who go out play strong positional dee, and then after time they blossom as scorers many times, and their good skating gets quickness they improve their shots and then they are guys teams have to worry about...

the guy has a strong wrist shot of a smaller packaged player, it is freaky.

I liked that Connor Moynihan scored on the PP with Dylan Sikura out there....
