Compared to last season, thats a 73 point increase from the forwards and 17 points increase from the defense.

On a side note I think Butcher and Sami should get more points as they will play a bigger role and get more ice time.

Very concervating (and likely accurate) predictions Todd. Not sure not sure if you read the Edmonton blog, but if you added their goal predictions they were at 287 goals (only tampa was higher), and an increase in over 50 goals from their previous season. That was laughable. But you are much more dialed in I believe. Only one I hope is not accurate is Lovejoy, who will hopefully have 0 points in 0 games played.

I think the 73 point increase is appropriate considering they are projected to be healthier. Theres probably an added 140 games between those guys from their missed games last season combined. Mojo and Palms missed alot

Great read as always Todd! I don't see Shero trading for that dman though, why give up assets when a yeat from now Ty Smith should fill that role. I might be too optomistic, but hoping it is so.

No, He reminds me of Henrique. Paid a full years salary for a 2-3 months of good hockey.

Better options out there to spend that 6mil

Todd could you see the devils inviting anyone to camp on a try out ? Maybe Beau Bennette or dare I say Cammy as they where 2 guys who showed well for us. Not sure what wheels Cammy has left but i didnt mention Hartnell because I felt he wouldnt be able to play devils hockey in any compacity being a older slower player at this stage ( he was never fast )

Didnt know anyone was available could you list the better available players to spend that 6 mil on ? Not saying its even likely with us being in division and Lous history with the devils but he would be our 4th best forward at worst I gotta think.

I dont think Shero will do anything major until hall and nico are locked up.

Nico 6mil @ 8 yrs
Hall 8 yr - 11, 10, 9, 8, 8, 7, 6, 5 for a friendly 8 mil range cap hit.

Hartnell could play a MAROON role. stick him in front on the PP ad put him as a 3rd line RW.

Hall-Nico -Bratt
Mojo- Zacha - Palmieri
Coleman - Zajac - Noesen
Wood - Boyle - Hartnall

those last two lines will be hard to play against.

Eberle gets the most of his points 5v5. I don't think the Devils can be overly picky considering the amount of guys that can play on our top line and produce is limited, including prospects.

Considering 5v5, started 52% in the Off zone, 70GF/60GA, and 54% in both Corsi and Fenwick.

He's also right handed. He would be a big pick up.

I just can't see adding a declining old man on the 4th line being a better option than a handful of prospects that are ready to take the next step. If he's still available during the season and we have a rash of injuries I could see him being an option

Ya but anything like Severson + Quennville + pick for Karlsson comes up, take it. Just imagine:

Butch Karlsson
Green Vats
Mueller Santini

Ton of cap space currently, and if Severson's 4.17M and Lovejoys 2.67M expiring we would barely notice a cap difference after his extension (i'm guessing around 9-10M AAV).

At this point I don't see it happening but a 4yr deal would be ideal. Instead of a 2yr bridge deal I'd love to see a 1yr deal. With a 2yr deal his value could be really high by then. That would just mean another big contract for the 2020-2021 season. I'd hate to be negotiating that contract. Where are the comparables to a 4th liner averaging 12:30 a night with 19 goals?? Hard to see where there won't be enough injuries to give him a good bit of top 6 time. I can't wait to see what he produces this yr.

Not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing with a 73 point increase. MoJo's games played history would suggest at least 75GP this season. He is definitely a 50pt caliber player. He will have had some experience with the guys now. He won't be trying to get back in the lineup & get in rythm with the team 3 times. Zacha has steadily increased from his rookie yr. If he can get a lot of time with MoJo & Palmieri he should definitely be at 40+. Palmieri is in his prime & if he plays 75+ games it's very reasonable to think 30 goals 25-30 assists. Coleman's offense really shined in the 2nd half. 7 goals in March. Zajac seems rejuvenated with Coleman & Noeson. I can definitely see that line putting up some points. Wood on the 4th line is a beast. Whoever wins the war for #4RW should really give a boost playing with Wood. This yr should be pretty exciting.

Some of the bigger names that are in the same situation as Wood with no contracts are: William Nylander, Sam Reinhart, Darnell Nurse, Shea Theodore, & Josh Morrissey. So it's not an extremely odd situation they are in. I don't see any of them missing camp. With how much room we have under the cap space I don't understand why we don't over pay him this yr & next yr in a show of good faith for a little discount for the 2020-2021 season when all of our cap space is gonna get used. Unless he's asking for something outrageous & he knows it I don't see how he won't go for the highest contract he can get for his next contract.

I would completely go for that trade even if it was a first rd pick. For me if they won't trade Karlsson w out Ryan being part of the deal I don't see any way it would be worth it. Ryan's declined the last couple yrs & is at that age to expect that to continue. His career highs for goals is 20 & 21. He's a great set up man but he has to be on a line with finishers to be affective. Last 2yrs he's had like 25 & 30 pts. Adding $7.25 million for 4 more seasons would be absolutely crazy!!! Even if Ottawa would retain $2.25 million per yr it would still be way to much for Ryan. So Ryan is a deal breaker.

If ryan was part of deal I'd imagine Sens would need to take less in a trade, like they wouldnt get as much as they could if it was only EK.

Zacha and Sev for Ryan and EK, done deal. Maybe throw in a jar of tears for the sens as well..

Absolutely the trade would be for less if Ryan was a part of the trade with zero salary retention. I was never a fan until their playoff run two years ago when he was hitting, working the corner, and nearly 1ppg. He suddenly became an animal over a 20 game stretch but that quickly disappeared last season. I could see him returning to a 20 goal scorer in the NHL but that contract is just one year too long, as we will be paying alot more $$$ to Hall/Hisch/Butch/Vats/Smith (hopefully he's a stud)

Bobby Ryan would be a premier scorer in this league if his hands weren't always broken.
