Career -109. If this is a sweepstakes it's more like The Lottery by Shirley Jackson.

Most likely Buffalo with Reinhart involved to balance out the Skinner trade.

Confirmed by Ek laws: Faulk stays in CAR forever as a 3rd pairing dman and gets grossly overpaid in the process. Thanks bud.

I thought the Leafs were needing someone who can actually play defense? What's the point of adding another defensively challenged player (especially one that is worst offensively than Gardiner). OK, he is right handed, but this doesn't solve any Leaf defensive issues.

Precisely. Leafs are still of the opinion they can score their way to the conference finals.

It used to happen all the time. Just like the Canucks icing a good team

I'm pretty jealous of Carolina's D-core

Faulk
Pesce
Slavin
Hamilton
Fleury

Pretty crazy they probably could have made the playoffs with a shooter-Tutor instead of the trash they have.

I just hope he goes anywhere so Dougie is guaranteed top powerplay time

The whole Carolina thing confuses me. They lost Lindholm and Skinner. Then swapped Hanafin for Hamilton.... now cutting Faulk? Wouldn't you rather Faulk than Hamilton? And even more so, wouldn't you want Hanifin over Hamilton?

I'm very confused. Could some Canes fans please shed some light on this for me? What am I missing?

You are confused because nobody would want Faulk over Hamilton and most people would rather Hamilton over Hanafin.

Hamilton is a massive upgrade over Faulk, it's not close. Traded upside/uncertainty of Hanifin for the prime "know" of Hamilton. At best i see Hanifin equaling Hamilton down the line.

Nah. Typically, the team that comes away with the best player wins the deal. Nylander is the best player in this deal by a mile

I would take Nylander over Aho, 1-up.

He is not better by a mile and the trade is not in the ballpark.

Sometimes teams need to do trades to get the correct chemistry, leadership or improve on a position that they are weak at. Carolina has trouble scoring and can afford to trade a d-man or two in order to improve their team at one of the three areas they need to improve. The big stumbling block is Faulk is only signed for 1 more season so a team trading for him better be sure they can re-sign him. This could affect what the Hurricanes can get for him so hopefully they can get a young goal scoring forward or a few A prospects. After all what do they have to lose? How have they done the last few years, so improvements are needed.
