I know it's the dog days of summer but hasn't this theme blog been overdone already? I mean this could have been summed up in 1 blog instead of a series of however many its been. All due respect Jan.

I said that I would run it as a series of blogs to keep people engaged during the summer. Also requested get people provide topics if they wanted me to cover anything. Very little else had been submitted and we are in the midst of the dog days of summer. This is starting the defensemen, forwards were done and goalies remain. Sorry if the topic has been played out already.

Fair enough, not a lot of topics this time of year. I just think the lack of response from the comments might be telling towards what I was getting at.

Understood. Fortunately, camps and Traverse City tournament is around the corner.
One thing I would blog about is how the Rangers will be big time buyers over the next couple of years. I can definitely see Panarin going there. I don't think the Rangers have any patience for a slow and proper rebuild and a lot of star players want to go there. Seguin with Panarin would be an electric power play. They are not going to watch King Henrik just fade away. Big changes coming starting next summer.

I definitely believe the Rangers will open the checkbook next summer
Hopefully a lot of these big time summer UFA 2019 guys remain UFA's

I think Beuk may be the most overrated Ranger in history...As much as I loved him he couldn’t skate, pass or shoot above replacement level and wasn’t a good fighter either. I think G in his prime was far superior.”

That might be accurate if you compare him to players of today. Girardi would have been a star in Beuk's time. But that is not a fair comparison.
Beuk was an imposing force that could clear the front of the net and who's deficiencies were masked by Leetch. He also allowed Leetch to play his style by being a stay at home defenceman. Beuk was a necessity in the era he played in. He was also a leader. Wouldn't trade his time here for anything except for keeping Zubov.

sounds like someone who judges players by today's corsi standards and didn't actually watch the games back in those days
To say Beukeboom couldn't fight either is absurd
that being said, I think it's close between Beukeboom and Girardi myself overall

Forgot to address that part.
I agree with you. If you could rip Girardi out of his time and put him on the '94 squad in place of Beuk I think they still get it done but you never know?

I think he never watched Beuk play. That comment makes Beuk sound like Malik.
