Good story for Pyett, hopefully he can get life back on track.
Hopefully the Flyers can improve on last year, JVR gives them two solid scoring lines now and should help the power play. |

AMac? If that is who you are asking about he is signed through 19-20, as is Gudas.

Great, thanks. I think if he’s healthy we’re gonna have a more balanced attack this year, providing Patrick can take another step forward. |

As long as they stay healthy, I can't see any reason why Patrick, Konecny and Lindblom won't all continue to improve. |

I’m concerned about the bottom six myself. Should they choose to keep Giroux at wing, that might put Simmonds in the bottom nine, which isn’t a bad problem to have. It’s the rest of the stale players we have down there. Jordan Weal, Michael Raffl, Dale Weise, Jori Lehtera. All stale players for me. Taylor Leier isn’t an interesting addition for me. I think Scott Laughton has the ability to be a very good 4th line center. In fact I think he could hold up well next to Simmonds on the third line. I just wish there were some easy answers about fixing this bottom six problem. A lot of garbage there. |

I think it's more of a bottom 3 problem than bottom six. Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Patrick, Simmonds, JVR, Konecny and Lindblom give you 8 pretty good pieces to fill the top 9. If you give him the right wingers, I think Laughton can be at least adequate as a 3rd line center, though I think he'd be better off either as a winger or a 4C. I'm fine with Raffl as the 4LW and I'm hoping that Aube-Kubel can step up and take the 4RW spot.
The only real question mark is at center. I still think they are one more good center away from having an excellent group of forwards, but I don't think, overall, it's as dire as you think it is. My guess is that Weise spends most of the season in the press box and Leier ends up in LHV. The only "garbage" player that could end up playing on a regular basis, probably as a 4C is Lehtera. Weal is just a wild card at this point. He could step up and fill in nicely as a 3C between a couple of good sized wingers like Lindblom and Simmonds or he could just end up sitting in the presser with Wiese as a spare forward.

I’d like to see Laughton centering that third line with Simmer as well. JVR should push some guys down where they belong, and that’s a good thing!! |

I think he will, he's been very good at every level he's ever played at, and, like Konecny, he has the ability to play either side. I'm really hoping to see a more balanced lineup that looks something like:
Giroux-Couturier-Voracek
JVR-Patrick-Lindblom
Konecny-Laughton-Simmonds
Raffl-???-Aube-Kubel
??? could be Lehtera, Weal or perhaps Vecchione.

Oh boy, I really don’t like Weal, Weise or Lehtera. I don’t dislike Raffl but he’s so stale in my opinion. He does his job but he’s nothing special. |

Bottom three/six doesn’t need to be special, just be defensively responsible and don’t get scored on, maybe pop a few here and there. |

I agree with your view on Raffl in a top 9 role, but he's more than capable of being an effective 4th line player. I really don't see Wiese in the everyday lineup, so at worst you probably are only looking at one of Weal/Lehtera in the lineup night in/night out.
If that's the case, it's really not that bad. Most teams have at least one player in their bottom 6 that they would like to replace, it's not the end of the world.

Exactly. If you have Simmonds and one of Konecny/Lindblom on the 3rd line, that's gonna give you a pretty solid top 9. Raffl is about as good a 4th line wing as you are going to get and I think Aube-Kubel is ready to be an NHL player and breaking him playing 8-10 minutes on the 4th line and maybe a bit of pk duty makes sense to me. Even Lehtera, for all his faults, is still a talented player with good size who isn't going to kill you playing that 8-10 minutes on the 4th line.
