When the power shifts to the player later in their careers they are sure to get every penny, so no problem with Shero holing onto his cards here. And I hope Wood signs soon.

Woods game could go wither way this season.
If he continues to grow he could e in for a big payday. Idf he falters he could be a 4th liner.
Be careful SHERO.
and where does he sit in this lineup???

Hall-Nico -Bratt
Mojo -Zacha -Palmieri
COleman -Zajac -Noesen
Wood - Boyle -Anderson ????

exactly. I'm not concerned about Wood. He has top end speed and some size but not the best smarts or stick. I want him on the team, but i'm not gona sweat him.

That's true but if the player continues to be successful. While Ray does have more leverage I hope he doesn't low ball the guy because players remember those things too. You have to keep fair dialog and I think Ray is probably very good at it. Not worried.

Shero will offer what is market value, so Wood would have no argument. If he wants more and its not deserved, ship him our or let him sit out.

Wood is easily my favourite player on the team after nico and hall. Crazy fast, plays hard and never takes a shift off. I always notice when hes on the ice. Hoping he gets a fair price.

Over at nhlprospectreport.ca we'll be writing an article on Michael McLeod very soon. Definitely take a look at the website though. We greatly appreciate it.

Woods comparable is probably closer to Nino Niederreiter. I believe Niederreiter got $8 mil for 3 years. So a little over $2.5 mil per year.

I also want to bring up Pavel Zacha. I know everyone is disappointed in the way he's progressing, but I think he can turn out to at least Ryan Johansen level(which wouldn't be bad for a 2nd line center). Best case scenario, Mark Scheifele. Look at Johansen and Schiefele's careers the first 3 years. If Zacha hits 50 points this season it's fairly comparable.

Bust! Trade him before the rest of the league realizes he’s nothing more than a bottom 6 depth forward

If he becomes anywhere near Johansen thatll be the steal of the draft. I would LOVE that but I dont think he will. He might have Ryans talent, but putting it together consistently will be is issue.

Todd

Any chance NJ Offer sheets a defenseman such as Hafolin or Theodore? Though I'd expect Calgary & Vegas to match any offer.

Or Nylander since it will be difficult for Toronto to match a long term contract with Mathews and Marner needing a contract next year.

Tendering RFA’s is Taboo among GM’s. The last time someone landed a player through tender was Edmonton landing Dustin Penner and the Ducks getting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Come on Ray slap a Tender on Darnell Nurse. And if they call whining about it, pimp slap them through the phone and hang up.
