Nope.

But Tom Wilson does.

But then Kurcherov takes it away.

But then Eichel adds to that

But alas, it gets snatched away by Forsberg.

But after that, Bailey and Lee raised their ugly head.

Only to be tempered by Kadri and Rielly.

But at the last second, Jason Blake rises like a salmon and nods one into the onion bag.

Only to be saved by a Hall vs Larsson and Sergachev vs Drouin debate.

NO such thing as a 3yr brdige deal. That's a normal contract. Bridges are 1 - 2.

Sorry....you are wrong. The definition of a bridge deal is anything less than a deal that will allow a player to go to unrestricted free agency after an ELC. Nylander has four years to go before becoming a UFA, so a 1, 2 or 3 year deal is a bridge deal.

Kucherov signed a three-year deal after his ELC, and it was a bridge deal.

From NHL.com "Before the 2016-17 season, Kucherov signed a three-year bridge deal at a relatively bargain $4.76 million AAV."

Hey MiB,
Long time listener, first time caller. Couple of questions. Why are you always trying to trade Kadri? And secondly, why are you always thinking Toronto are going to trade for a dman?

Thanks.

Thanks for the call.

1) If you've noticed, my suggestion that the Leafs trade Kadri ended when he started to be a better two-way player under Babcock. Based on how he played up until two years ago, I never believed he would cease being a turnover machine, but he has improved dramatically in that area. That being said, he still makes some questionable decisions, like hitting a fourth-liner like Wingels into the boards and contributing to the club's loss to Boston.

2) Why do I think they are going to trade for a defenseman.....because if they do not upgrade their defense, they will not win. Their management knows this and so do I. Plus, they tried to deal for Travis Hamonic and Ryan McDonagh, so eventually they will land someone.

Wooooow Mike...

You, and other people that spend too much time focusing on one thing in life tend to think they know more than everyone. Maybe you do, who knows... But to boldly proclaim that the Leafs will not win, like its a fact, if they don't upgrade their D is pretty rich.

I think a bridge deal is any deal that ends with a year or more of RFA status. You are not the authority and are incorrect.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the boat has sailed for a trade for a dman imo. Looks like they may try to draft their way out of it,or otherwise go the FA route. I think (the fact that 2.5 years have passed) they don't want to pay the "market price" that dmen cost. They'll have a sniff, and then realize they're quite a way apart in their offer.

Do you see a dcore consisting of Rielly, Liljegren, Dermott and Sandin (possibly even Gardiner) being able to contend for the Cup? I looked at the Capitals and Golden Knights' dcorps and was not impressed.

It's a 1/30 chance so the odds are in your favor.

It is not a minority opinion and I think the losses to Washington and Boston in the first round the last two years are pretty strong circumstantial evidence.

Is there any way he can play for the Jays while not actually playing for the Jays? He seems to have a bright future. I'm concerned that as soon as he's considered as playing for the Jays, he'll monopolize the physio time of the GTA physio union they sake way most promising Jays players do.

I don't think the boat will ever sail on that, since an upgraded defense is the likely key to them winning a Cup. I don't think they will trade one of the big 4, but they can get a deal done for a top 4 D with supporting players/prospects/picks.

The D corps you mentioned will likely be in Blue and White in 2020 or 2021. I do not think they will wait for internal options as their answer for an upgrade.

Washington's D was tough, mobile and experienced.
