No, it definitely makes sense. Most bottom seven teams get great players or prospects.

The best players come from the top of the draft 99% of the time.
- LeftCoaster

You show me a draft that the top 7 picks are the best 7 players in that draft.

It's not about getting to the bottom anymore, anywhere in the bottom seven almost 100% guarantees you a great player or prospect.

Yup all great player but Dhalin will surely be the best of them all.

How many of the bottom 7 teams get Dahlin?

We have been the worst team in the NHL over the last 4 years and we have not had a sniff of a top three draft pick .

Screw tanking

In most drafts usually 5-6 of the top 10 players picked seem to be the best players in that draft.

Yes you can still get good to great players further up but you can't get McDavid and Eichel there in 2015.

We are well past that point now. We'll be picking 5-10 for the foreseeable future we'll just have to make the best of it.

Picking 10th next year.

Don't blame that on tanking, blame that on the idiot who picked them.

Luongo will never be a recapture issue, like every other player he'll go on LTIR and get swept under the carpet.

Only part of the equation . I don't foresee Edmonton or Buffalo winning cups anytime soon.

They stripped those teams down so far it will take years to recover.

No it's not, it increases your odds when you tank. To get one of the best players later in the draft requires great scouting and luck. You have a better chance with tanking, which Benning is fully on board with.

I don't see Jack Hughes as a generational player. He's a great player who would help the Canucks. I'm not against picking anyone that would help the Canucks.
- manvanfan

He almost beat Mathews point record as a 16 year old..... he has McDavid speed and hands. But McDavid isn't as good as Mathews so that's a moot point.

Dylan Strome at 3. Hanifin at 5oa. Zacha 6oa. So really if you don't win the first or second lotto spot. You can end up with nothing.
