Were the lists nominating left handed, right handed or ambidextrous players?
I mean, if a player is right handed but playing his off side, he's going to be less effective than a player playing his right side (right being not left & right but appropriate side).
Then if a player (Lord Larsson), plays on a non defensive team, then he won't be allowed to fully shine - the sun will still shine from his arse though!
Then I've seen Giroux has played defence does that make him a defender for those very short moments in a game? |

I dont see what the big deal is. You cant blame us for being upset he was snubbed. They guy is among the best in the league in points since 2010, had 102 points on the wing last season. He still took more draws than most centers in the league and was among league best is faceoff winning percentage. Yet he was snubbed for both Wing and Center. Had he made one of the lists, no one would be upset. You cant argue he doesnt deserve to be on one of them. He plays a dual position, that is why in Fantasy hockey he is listed as a C\LW. People have used Burns as an example. He used to be a dual position player but he moved back to D permanently so he loses that eligibility. The difference between Giroux and Burns is that Burns does not shift his positioning during the season. He is a D the entire time where as Giroux will play left wing but he still plays C at times during a game. |

Giroux is a stud ... just because some bloggers can't see it ... doesn't diminish the fact he absolutely kills it out there at Either C or W.... That's why these guys are bloggers and not running or asked about players by ya know like actual teams from peewee through midget never mind college / Jr / A or Nhl... don't let it bug.

Tanners opinion is so Terrible that nobody even cares to comment on the fact his english is terrible.
4. Ryan Suter. I used to argue that he was overrated, but now I learned differently and I think he's underrated. By Corisca's WAR model he is one of the best in the league and even though he's about 51 year old he is still putting up 50 points.
Maybe now you should learned how to edit. Considering how many year old you are. Your lack of a clue is amusing. |

It wouldn't be a Tanner blog post without him randomly selecting metrics to make his points.
Between all of his selections, his choices have a combined 0 Norris trophies, 0 Conn Smythe trophies and 1 All-star appearance (6 years ago by Suter.)
Granted, choosing the best players in a team sport is very subjective, but here is an objective perspective - Zero Stanley cup winners. That is the goal, right? Or is it cherry-picking regular season stats? - Tanuki
Bro. Have you ever read a Tanner column? The goal is to have the most more shot attempts for than against while on the ice at 5v5 per 60 minutes. I mean, teams and guys can get lucky and win over a tiny sample size like 82 games plus 20ish playoff games, but the guy that has the most more shot attempts for than against while on the ice at 5v5 per 60 minutes will eventually come out on top. |

Name the top five players in the NHL:
James Tanner
1 - the entire Toronto Maple Leafs roster
2 - none
3 - none
4 - none
5 - The rest of the league - JRocknRoll
You forgot OEL and Raanta (despite the fact that to him, eventually every goalie ever has a .900 save percentage) |

Didn't the rest of my comment hint that Im taking the piss?
I think Giroux can be labelled as both C & Wing if it were up to moi. But it's the Buzzz, the piss has to be taken! It's the law. |
