Gave up a lot but it’s not beyond reason that Doug H was becoming a problem. If a bunch of idiots on the internet can put it together, I’m sure every GM in the league knows it too.

We haven’t seen a fair Hockey Trade in the NHL in years, this is probably the best or fairest in a while.

Also....Ferland sucked and is a big time Coke fiend. Lindholm is a massive upgrade.

You guys did fine.

whats with the Bold, spazz, your comment isnt that important?

Haha Ferland missed a number of games & there were a few rumours he either had a slight concussion or fell off the wagon. Flames pretty tight lipped on nature of injury. I didnt recall him getting dinged in the head & he did come back & play games.
Ferland got disinterested when they took him off the top line, his points are meh when he was on the 3rd or 4th line & he didnt play that wrecking ball style at all. Everything points to him playing for a big raise on a long term contract. Ill be really watching how he does in Carolina & how he's utilized.

There have been plenty of fair trades, and it's way too early to even try and assess this one. You generally don't want to be gambling with potential when you make a trade and the Flames are. Both Lindholm and Hanifin were slightly disappointing in Carolina, and if they don't pretty significant steps forward, the Flames got fleeced.

I'm not really sure how much better Lindholm is than Ferland. Ferland's been better every year, and was far more than just a passenger on the top line last year. He was a big reason the line was top 5 in the league for the first 75% of the season. He was on pace for 30 goals before he got injured, then did absolutely nothing after the injury. I could easily see him settling into a top six 20 to 25 goals a year power forward, and there aren't very many of those in the league.

Ferland at best is a productive 3rd wheel like Pat Maroon in Edmonton. He won’t have line, aces like Johnny and Money in Carolina. He sucks.

Depends how Carolina sees him and what they want to do with Svechnikov. If they brought him in to get some size on Aho's line, he'll probably be pretty good. Aho is going to be every bit as good as Gaudreau.

He's also a natural LW, so can probably find a spot in their top six with a solid camp. He was very impressive last year until his injury. I repeatedly said he was a third line player playing on the top line before last year and put a lot of their playoff loss on him. He proved me wrong last year.

"and Lukas Sedlak" Who the F is Lukas Sedlak?

Honestly I think Treliving has had a near perfect offseason outside of the Hamilton trade. Adding Neal, Ryan, and Czarnik up front and getting rid of Brouwer and Stajan is a huge upgrade.

Only thing I would've liked to see is stone shipped out for a pick or something, but I see the reasons for keeping him as long as he sits in the press-box and doesn't block the young guys from getting playing time.

He had one good year. Actually he had a good half year, the second half he was brutal. I'm not too worried about him ever getting more than 40 points.
