Can’t compare the two
One is a first line Center and the other a first line winger - Redmile247

You laugh but it’s true - Redmile247
True, Draisaitl can be considered both a top line winger or a top line center. |

Drai is very good
But he has either played on the top line with Connor or behind him against weaker completion as a center

Okay, and Monahan almost always gets played with an elite play-driving winger against weaker competition as Backlund's line takes the tough minutes (as per you Flames fans). |

Monahan gets the oppositions shutdown D and checking line and backs gets the top line of the other team ...what’s your point

Malkin has spent years playing away from Crosby and has stepped in as a top line center when Crosby is hurt ....drai has played primarily with Connor in the lineup |

No, because that doesn't suit his narrative. |

By contending that Draisaitl saw "weaker competition" away from McDavid, you imply that he's worse for doing so but neglect to consider how your line of thinking is incongruous with reality. Not all teams are constructed or deployed the same after all.
McLellan typically avoids line-matching but favours a Power Vs Power approach with McDavid's line meaning he takes the role of playing top opposition (Backlund's role). Much like your third line (Bennett and Jankowski), Strome's line couldn't be counted on to play tough minutes against better players so his line ends up getting somewhat sheltered minutes.
Given your argument (which I believe to be fundamentally flawed anyway), this leaves the role of playing the opposition checking line to Draisaitl's line which- by your own admission- is the same role Monahan plays. Therefore, using the fact that Draisaitl plays easier competition while away from Connor when debating who is superior between Monahan and Draisaitl is pretty much irrelevant.
However to use your argument against you, Draisaitl's most frequent linemates when away from McDavid (about half his season minutes-wise) were Lucic, Caggiula, Cammalleri and Aberg. This means he took on the same minutes Monahan takes on but with FAR weaker linemates. Despite that, he still outproduced him at EV over the season. |

Well it sounds like Sportsnet has listened to the complaining of fans and switched Debrusk and Remenda. Think Remenda is on thin ice. |
