Great signing for the Wild ... Dumba is a stud D man and for this price and term it's a win all around.
It's also good news for the Peg and bad news for Trouba, no way he's getting more than Matt.

Geez, the typos and grammar in this blog are pathetic. Is this really the best we can do? Who are the Wold? Does anybody proofread their work?

No, Dumba can skate and think at the same time. Great signing on a young kid that is only getting better!!!

What a great signing, Dumba has lots of upside on his 50 point season at 23 years old. He is not far off being the team's top dmen if he is not already. Now get Zucker wrapped up and it should be a fun season.

My god some of you Leaf fans are really out to lunch. To compare Dumba to Phaneuf is ridiculous, Dumba does not do sloppy seconds.

Good signing! As a Jets fan, Dumba was an absolute stud in the playoffs and he has been solid all year. I love his style of play, wish we had more of that.

In all honesty, id be happy if we could get Trouba signed for the same contract (maybe 1-2 years longer). It seems that we always have to pay an extra $500k/yr as a premium for playing in Winnipeg.

I'm glad to see Dumba locked up for several seasons now, but I think they overpaid him a tad. Yeah, he had a 50pt season, but he still has a lot to improve on...mainly playing defense. I do hope this shuts Suter up and his incessant refusal to skate with Dumba and saying he has to play with Spurgeon. I can now see Dumba on the 1st PP, with Spurgeon manning the point on the 2nd PP.

If Dumba is getting $6 mil a year, I am guessing Zucker is gonna HAVE to take a hometown discount. I would have been happier with both getting between $5.2 and $5.5 mil each.

Looking at the cap space from the Cap Central on this site...I doubt Kunin, Kloos, Rau and Soucy make opening day roster. That adds another $3.3 mil to the already listed $3.9 in cap space, for a total of $6.2 Olofsson is on a 1-way contract, so he accidentally makes the team. But if they can either sneak him through waivers (or better yet, just dump him), that gets the Wild to $6.9 to sign Zucker. And if Zucker DOES take the hometown discount, let's say $5.4 mil a year, the Wild are left with only $1.5 mil and a 22 player roster. Not a lot of wiggle room left there. It's enough to pull 1 player up from Iowa if/when someone gets hurt...but then not much else left.

6M a season is going to haunt the Wild. They are becoming the New York Rangers, going to be a rough few years, if not many many years. At least on a good note, the Ducks will be rocking a childhood goodie this season Quack Quack Quack!

IMO, he hasn't proven himself as a 6 mill a year D man. I will admit he had a great 2nd half last season, but he made far too many bone headed plays that cost the Wild several games in the first half, as well as previous seasons.

Personally I'd like to see him focus more on being a hard nosed defensive defenseman and be a little more selective when it comes to unleashing his big slapper.

It's no secret in the Wild blogs that I have never really been a huge fan of his, but I'm not disappointed with this signing. So long as he gets to work and continues to develop his game.

I hear ya with your comments but I don't think he would be worth the gamble to trade him. He is so young and in a couple years could be one of the best in the game if he continues to grow. He should be the teams number one dman going forward and fully expect him to be on the first pp unit, whether with Suter or without Suter. Got to get Zucker deal done and we will be okay.

Hahahaha, I knew you wouldn't like this signing. My first thought when reading about the signing was "ooh, I think they over paid a bit", but the 2nd thought that came to me was "oh-oh, Gump ain't gonna like this at all".

LOL, I'm actually ok with it. As James Tanner pointed out in the buzz thread, if Dumba continues to get better, the wild will have him locked up for pretty much the entire prime of his career. And if he turns into that elite d man that many think he will be, all the better. At that point this contract will be brilliant. I just hope he gets better
