Unfortunately, probably not for a while. I’m excited however to see if the youth develops and really starts to take over in the nex few seasons.

Dev's just Signed Tangradi. 164 points in his last 200 AHL games is not joke. Don't blame you guys from moving on from a 29 year old AHL'r, but what is his deal?

Good question. I’m no GM, but the last few seasons he was a consistent AHL scorer and one of the top GR Griffins in points. I’m not sure why he didn’t even get a solid look on a team that was banged up or still looking to get into the playoffs the last few seasons. No idea what his deal is.

15 points in 144 NHL games. He can't skate or play fast enough for the NHL.

Fair enough. And I am fine with that. If he wants to light up the AHL on Bing, I am happy. They were an absolute joke last season so anything to help develop our younger guys is fine by me.

If you watch the AHL closely, you notice it's pretty normal for the AHL scoring leaders to be mostly veteran players (mid-late 20s to early 30s) who never made much of an impact at the NHL level for various reasons. Usually it's size (a lot of high-scoring AHL players are 5'10" or shorter), sometimes it's skating, sometimes it's hockey sense, sometimes a little mix of everything.

Since AHL eligibility rules require almost 3/4 of a team's lineup to be comprised of "development" players (260 pro games or fewer, so the equivalent of like 3-4 seasons or less), the not-quite-good-enough-to-be-in-the-NHL vets pretty much eat them for lunch. But it's usually already clear that they aren't going to find that success against the bigger, faster, older, and better competition at the NHL level.

Darren Haydar was a monster in the ahl a while back. He would murder the league in points every year. Never panned out in the nhl but was a one man wrecking crew in the ahl.

Even though the Wings never really gave him much of a look in Detroit, he will be a great veteran for your AHL team. He's a great team player (power forward). He's big, tough, and sticks up for his teammates. He also puts up a lot of points in the AHL. He's a big reason the GR Griffins won their last Calder Cup. He was consistently one of their best forwards during his tenure when I watched him in Grand Rapids. I was hoping he'd get a chance to earn a spot on Detroit's 4th line. He can't be any worse than Witkowski or Glendening.

I wish him well in the New Jersey organization. I'm curious if the Devils will give him a look at the NHL level.
