Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The trade was decent, but it's not going to have much of an effect. I think Chayka probably is the best GM in the NHL, and while I don't think the Coyotes are a contender, the Golden Knights just made the SCF so anything can happen.

Brilliant move. Only JC can see these kinds of things. He was downright unlucky To not win GM of the year this year, and that 12 games stretch by the coyotes really cemented to me that they really are a top-five team in this league, and their defense is second to none. All other opinions would be futility scorned.

Those lucky Vegas golden knights and those lucky Washington Capitals really lucked out this year. With any luck, the yolks will Rightfully attain the conference title, and I bet with better luck they win their first Stanley Cup yet!

This (tired) joke really misses the point that the only reason anyone would ever care about stats was so that they could better predict the future.

For example, if you look at expected goals and PDO you don't do things like sign David Clarkson to a huge contract. This is just common sense stuff. If you think the Capitals and Golden Knights are the NHL's two best teams, you will be very shocked next season.
