For any familiar with this procedure, there is no way Kruger is in the lineup any sooner than mid-year, if ever. I'd expect him to be placed on LTIR day 2 of the season.

Another angle we could be looking at...did the Hawks clear space to do an offer sheet on anyone?

Forsberg dropped to AHL, did he clear waivers? Per Capfriendly

Jesus, good eye. Something to keep an eye on today. Kid might be a bum but at 25 I don't wanna give up on him yet and these are the kinds that at least adds to organIzational depth.

Why because he couldn’t even stick with the Hurricanes and nobody claimed him off waivers. This Kruger is not the old Kruger from years ago.
- walleyeb1

But if he battled an injury all year how can you truly asses that if he wasn't 100%?

All Canadian as well.

There have been a lot more Canadians added by Stan (Manning, Ward, Kunitz) which may be coincidence, but it's an interesting trend.

I'm sure Don Cherry is impressed.

Was just on the site 30 minutes ago and he was listed on the roster. Mistake? If not, that is interesting news a) means Crow may be healthier than we thought and B) surprised he made it through without a claim. Great news if true

now

Told the Blackhawks have been in talks with Montreal about Pacioretty and Carolina about Skinner. Chicago has approx $8.5M in cap space after today's trade. Possible these talks pick up steam now.

- jt19

Skinner hopefully, he’s only 26 and could seriously help out the 1st lime where Saad was struggling last year!

Yeah he just was moved down. I looked at the roster after the trade and went back to it to see how a 23 man would look and poof he was AHL fodder.

8 mil in cap space!!! How can the Hawks be the 3rd team in the Karlsson sweepstakes? JT Miller for a 1st? 25 yrs old with a cap hit of 5.2 per for 5 yrs. ... A 5th for Stralman?

- Mr Ricochet

^^This- what player can we poach for almost nothing to help TB get their guy? Would LOVE point but not realistic.

No harm done, the rebuild continues, no harm to the cap both now and with term, a solid prospect added and the team got better on the ice for this yr, dealt from strength from numbers at defense.

Just did a check on the math, and appears the people saying it is more likely around $6M are correct. The $8.55M is based on only 18 rostered players and only 9 of those forwards.

Sigh

Essentially Hino and Oesterle for Kruger and losing Hossa's contract. Looks like a pretty good deal to me.
- EbonyRaptor

Yes, plus the big kid prospect Entwistle, a 99 F, played in the Ivan Hlinka and U-18 WJC for Canada.

Anyone else interpret this as a shot at 19, or 7?

MacKenzie Entwistle is a fundamentally sound player with excellent skating ability and great size. He is never going to put up large scoring numbers, but is a guy who makes your team better and helps you win. A North-South skater with powerful stride and very good acceleration. He gets many shots on net when he gets possession. Strong in both ends and may get better in all areas as he develops as a right wing. He is 18.

Jordan Maletta is a tough and gritty right winger with an abrasive game. More of an up and down wing who possesses nice hands and a good sense of reading plays on offense. Aggressive player who finishes checks and competes hard. He is 23.

To me we traded the best player at this moment in time too make cap space.

Don't be afraid to think there is upside in an 18 year old or a 23 year old.

I haven't read anything just looked at Cap Friendly. I need to slow down a bit, I guess. Hossa money gone, no blue chipper given up, a solid prospect added. Anything above that is gravy.

Great perspective. What are the chances that moving Hinostroza opened up a space for someone like Dylan Sikura on the roster?

Do you remember if he played physical, Wiz. His PIM numbers look low.

Spot on Wiz. These are more the type of player this team needs in the pipeline. Vinny a small price to pay.

I'm with you, Pacioretty is too old and no term left on his deal. Skinner will likely cost more to acquire though

Do they trade to take on salary and get draft picks or promising prospects OR do they go after a top 6 forward or a top 4 dman?

The next move will define where management believes the Hawks are.
