I'm absolutely fine with Kruger coming back, and the Hawks have $8,550,705 to make some additions...
I could see Anisimov being traded too...
And IMO, I really think Patches will land in Chicago (maybe for Anisimov?) |

Realistically, not a bad price to pay to move Hossa's contract. Oesterle won't be missed and the team has too many D anyway. Hinostroza won me over and I wish him all the best. - DarthKane
I guess. Wonder what Kruger has left in the tank (but happy that his contract expires this year- more cap flexibility for other moves.)

Was about to say, those pining for size, here ya go. Entwhistle MIGHT have value. The others look to be AHL lifers. - Revco38
None of these guys except for Krueger even show on their current roster. Who are they? |

Good point, because Kruger might end up slotting that 3C role behind Toews/Schmalz and maybe they are moving AA for something else. |

All Canadian as well.
There have been a lot more Canadians added by Stan (Manning, Ward, Kunitz) which may be coincidence, but it's an interesting trend. |

Well Kruger does bring a 50+% face off stat to us. 3rd or 4th line for him? |

Now if they trade AA the total cap space is $13 mil.
And even though everyone said I was crazy, the Hawks did move Hossa to a team that is over the cap floor, but had a self imposed budget that was well under the cap ceiling.
Another way to look at this is to consider it two trades....
1) Hossa & Oesterle for an Arizona 5th round pick
2) Hino & a 3rd round pick for Marcus Kruger, MacKenzie Entwistle, Jordan Maletta, Andrew Campbell

Interested in what Kruger will bring. He was sent to the AHL last year, but it sounded like he played the whole season with a sports hernia. I think he is done though - at least the he is in his last year - possible buyout if need be?
MacKenzie Entwistle might have some potential. Only 18 and had a good playoffs last year for Hamilton. And he has size (just needs to add weight). |

Too much negativity here. Losing Vinny is truly unfortunate but that was the price Bowman had to pay to move Hossa and clear cap space up. Ultimately, the team still feels it has enough to contend, and clearing the cap space in order to bring in worthwhile assets (which they haven’t done since this run began) is how they’ll try to move forward.
Ultimately, is Vinny a top line player at this level? Too early to tel but I fee not. He’ll make a solid middle-six player but those are replaceable.
Moving Oesterle for anything is a positive in itself. Look at it as the Hawks are bringing in Kruger on a one-year deal for $1.8M. Not bad considering he won 55% of faceoffs last year, Q obviously trusts him, and he’s still only 28. Everyone wanted a bottom-six center, well now you got one.
The prospects won’t amount to much, but MacKenzie is an 18-year-old who is 6’3” and 175 lbs and clearly can add more size to his frame. He had a solid year in the OHL last season and was a 3rd round pick last year. Not a bad flyer to take.
We’ll see what else is in store, but $8.5M is a lot of dough to work with. Taking on Faulk would still leave you with a bit of cap room to add a top-six winger. Then the team would be ready to roll behind a presumably healthy Crawford.
The Hawks are going to be better. |

AA, our 1st, and one of our "A minus" prospects for Panarin (if they have a contract extension agreed upon in advance.... maybe $9mil x 6?). |

Perhaps the Hawks have something with this Mackenzie Entwistle kid eh?

Watching that video and #44 in those colors, for some reason I though of former Blackhawks Rob Brown when he was with the Penguins in the late '80's/early 90's. |
