John Tavares and his 9 years with this organization are dead to us. We will move on from that wolf in sheeps clothing very quickly. New Arena. Real coach. Real GM (we hope). We are prepared to delete him from this franchise and move on. We don’t need a letter from you trying to make us believe you didn’t bend us over like you did. We know the truth and no Islander fan will ever believe a word out of your lying mouth. Our letter to you reads this:

🖕. Blow your knee out

Thanks

He specifically mentions Weight and Snow, who basically have been demoted in the past few months... Makes you think

If the leafs make the playoffs i hope and pray each time its the islanders that knock them out for the next 7 years.

- Nfdbulldawg

Well for that to happen the islanders will have to make the playoffs; seems doubtful for a few years.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/making-sense-doughty-karlssons-contract-comments/

I'm not making up anything, him and Doughty literally talked about it. They share the same agents and both know each other. Both of them said "we'll get paid what we're worth and no less"

Then on July first it was reported multiple times that it was thought the Sens offer was $10M x 8 years and then the next few days after it was reported that it was actually $11M x 8 years and some reported even saying it was as high as $11.5M-$12M x 8 years

We will see but I wont be surprised if mgmt lowballed him with the first offer

If he did not sign, he was not serious about staying. Doughty signed, he stays... I would be pissed at management had he not signed and we kept him. Dont blame the player he has every right to go where he wants. Blame management for doing what they have done best since I was a kid growing up in Long Island, make bad decision after another. I was a 12 years old living in Farmingdale in 1983.

Its time to move on from Pajama boy and focus on the islanders march to the playoffs this year. Lou is far from being done and with Trotz as the islanders new coach i have very high hopes this season.

I don't understand the saltiness...
What does Tavares owe you?
What more could he have done for thr organization? Was there for 9 years, and if you read the article you'd understand that it was a tough decision for him. In the article, hw mentioned a lot of Islanders players he was close with and almost all got traded away. It's on ownership/GM not Tavares.. In the article, he says how close he was with Snow and Weight and both of them were let go. Maybe he would have stayed if Snow and Weight were still there..

I think the line-up is quite solid. Lot of jokes about guys like Filppula, Komarov and Martin but yikes, I would not want to play against that bottom 6.

I have to figure the rink played a substantial role. He's spoke repeatedly about staying with one team for his whole career, but what sideshow outside of Ottawa is a worse situation than not having a full time rink?

Islanders fans are passionate but I'm sure both SJ and Toronto with the stability were looking pretty attractive.

There seems to be two contradicting assumptions.
1) It was obvious JT would not resign and therefore Islanders should have sold him at the deadline.
2) JT did not make up his mind until the off season.

Should the Islanders have traded him if he truly did not decide before juli 1st?

- Goislanders

It's also entirely possible that Tavares had every intention of staying, until Lou Lamoriello was hired. Tavares would have to change his number and shave his goatee. Maybe he really likes the #91?.

I just don’t understand why it’s on the player to fix the franchise by being traded.

He’s a human being, Why is it on him to pack up his family and sell his place and leave his friends and teammates...and move to a new city? Why does he have to tell them to trade me to get something, he legit had the Islanders as one of his teams so why would he want to be traded? Of course you would want to stay on as Captain and see it through if it was a real good chance you’d be back.

Going to a new team mid season...when all he’s ever known is the Islanders is his duty?! To save the franchise and maybe get them a prospect, a late first and a second at the deadline? This is bananas.

Fans forget that these guys are people with real feelings and emotions...they aren’t chess pieces moved around on a board.

He gave them 9 years. He gave them an honest shot to re-sign him...the Leafs pitch swayed him and that’s it. I don’t see why it was incumbent on him to pack up his life and leave everything he’s known at the deadline. He explains how agonizing this decision was for him, why do people think he was purposely trying to screw the Islanders?

So now Tavares not only never gets to see his favorite team win a Stanley Cup, he gets to play for them and never win one either!

I truly can care less if Tavares left. Doesn't bother me at all. What is bothering me is that he left to go on a pathetic leaf club that has done absolutely nothing. they are not even worth noting. team has not won a cup in my lifetime. i have seen my team win the cup multiple times. Team has not won a round since 04. real impressive. team is pure trash. 67 67 67 67 forever. Joke

He should at least make an arguement that makes sense. The past has literally nothing to do with the future in this instance like how many years did the cubs go and they (frank)ing won like what the hell does not being run well in the past have to do with moving forward ? They have 2 franchise caliber players now its hard to argue they wont have a real shot anytime in the next 3 years to win.
