Tampa cannot fit Karlsson in long term at the kind of money he will demand as a UFA.
For once can people in the sports world use some logic instead of being braindead zombies. - Mr_Smokey
Tampa can fit Karlsson if they can move some parts. They are looking to move Callahan, Tyler Johnson, Palat and even Killhorn to make room. Im not sure why people expect Sergachev to be a part of thos team if a trade goes through. If EK is on team, Serg has no future with the team. He would be stuck behind Hedman nd EK for the foreseeable future. He is a potential top pair dman. He would be a piece Ottawa would want. |

Just gotta connect the dots.
He said "Keep an EYE on Edmonton."
EYE sounds like I
I is the 9th letter of the alphabet
Edmonton is clearly trading for Gordie Howe

But does that 3rd pair dman deserve more money than Mcdavid or Matthews? |

He deserves Fedorov’s contract from the 1998 season. Look it up. |

I took a crap that looked like a letter "C," any team that's city starts with a "c" stay tuned. It's a solid source, probably brisket based. That's an E3 rating |

Ha! Maybe it is. That’s why I called the rumors and not facts. But I remember when he was moved out of Montreal, he was not getting along with the coach and playing very selfishly. Why else would a team like Montreal move a young Franchise defensemen. - agame99
Because Bergevin.

They do if you are trying to value Karlsson as if the team acquiring has contract control locked in. - Feds91Stammer
Ottawa has all the power until the TDL. If they still haven't moved him at that point, then yes. They'll be desperate to get something instead of nothing. The first 4 months of the season are long and a lot of teams can find themselves in a position they didn't predict before then. |

In a sense yes, the "NTC" being if Dorion doesn't like the offers then there's no trade happening. |

Exactly, but when that happens EK walks at end of year.
Ottawa: Which team(s) EK?
EK65: Team A
Ottawa: What will you give me Team A?
Team A: Poop and a side of rocks
Ottawa: Kick them
Ottawa: Sorry EK Team A didn't give enough
EK: Okkie dokkie I'll play the year
TDL
Ottawa: Which teams EK?
EK: Team A and B
Ottawa: How much?
Team A: Poop and no rocks
Ottawa: How much?
Team B: Poop and you give me rocks
Ottawa: Screw those teams pfffft
Team A signs EK in offseason. |

Nothing because that is a whole season away. There isnt any pressure to trade him until the trade deadline. It doesnt hurt to keep him either since they dont have a 1st this year. The only pressure there is for Ott to get value for their franchise dman
Thanks ts also not that clear cut. Just because he agrees to team a and b doesnt mean there isnt a team c, d, e ect. If he hits FA there is no guarantee he signs with any of those teams. It becomes a bidding war. It is in a teams best interest to sign and trade because its guranteed |

And then Team B wishes they had offered more than rocks, or they didn't really want him anyways. And we didn't have to take ... er ... Poop from anyone. |

No, team B knows he wants to play with Team B so they aren't going to give gold rocks to aquire his rights when they can get those rights for FREE In a few months. OTT knows he's leaving so by letting him play the season risking injury they are literally gambling his entire value on the chance of getting a marginally better return at the TDL. |

I think you missed the part where it was declared that Team A signed him. So Team B can't have him then. Competing offers raises the price. |

Not sure you hold not getting a star player (giving him a chance to sign with 29 other teams) as leverage over another team... |

Nope didn't miss it. He already said he's not signing with team A because he wants to sign with Team B because his wife likes Team B jersey color better |
