Honestly, I don't see an issue with that lineup. I like it. If Hall realizes that Shero is slowly building the team in a great direction, he'll stay regardless so no need to impress him by acquiring a 20 mil dollar player.

My concern is actually Cory.

Beyond the top line, they have one 40+ point forward and he's coming off a season in which he suffered two serious concussions. The 2nd 'scoring' center averages less than 30 points per 82 games. You don't see any issues with that?

Toddy, see you have Coleman on the wing. Is that simply because that's how he becomes a regular since the Devils have so many Cs? I wouldn't be surprised at all if he splits between wing and center, giving Boyle a break here and there and, presumably, creating flexibility when injuries occur.[/img]

Finding a way to get Tyler Johnson out of the Karlsson arrangement would be ideal. But now that that NTC kicked in, its probably moot.

The Devils have yet to see what a heathly MoJo looks like, so that might be a boost.

Are Niederriter and Dumba still on the block?

None. I say let the team play and let them surprise like they did last year.

I think Hall stays in Jersey. He had it rough in a big market and has talked about how it's nice not to be the only talk of the town 365 days a year.

Why not trade for Eberle? Already brought two of Hall's friends in. Why not try and bring in the one that actually deserves to be in the NHL and is either available now or in the near future. Then again the way things are in Long Island Eberle could probably ask for 10mil and they'd have to give it to him

Lol but dont you see they arent that same team that surprised ! Where to the goals come from ? How do we create a winning culture with that ? If Shero believed we are a better team with out these guys why the (frank) did he give up a second a third and rykov if we are better with out them or anyone replacing them. Not one of our prospecta outside of nico who went from jr to the show has blown anyone away in their respective leagues and they are going to succeed playing in over their head at the nhl? Im glad we didnt get ourselves into anything stupid but to say this off season has gone even remotely close to how i think most ppl invisioned is probably a stretch.

Ya you have to click into the forums then come back to the thread to post.

Interesting function. It's like "the you are too drunk to text app" that asks you are you sure you want to send the text. Instead it's just hockeybuzz's way of making sure you want to commit to a thread.

Might be a case of having to take a step back to take two steps forward -- they made the playoffs last year, which definitely was good for the fanbase and Hall, but sometimes you actually need to miss once more, get a lottery pick, to solidify a lineup moving forward

It took an MVP-caliber season from Hall to make it into the playoffs last year. Doing so should buy Shero enough time to finish adding the kind of high-end talent a rebuild needs -- it can't just be Hischier and done

Shero wouldnt have done his job if he didnt get us ready for playoffs. Trading picks is nothing because no guarantee that pick turns into an NHL player.

Woody will get 20+.
Nico 20+
Palms 20+
Hall 100

if nothing is available because lack of quality or teams asking for too much then Shero is smart to stay pat.

But he aint stupid, he's working on something big.

Just think how (frank)ing exciting it will be when Hall leaves, Greene and Zajac are off the books and we can lead the entire league in salary cap space. Either we are turning into a bullpoop small market team or we are doubling down on the rebuild and trying to get going for another year.

I can't believe Ray is just getting shut out on everything. Something is up. Either ownership is sitting on their wallets or we are trying not to get better.

Im wondering if he is up to something big but what does he have i think he did some damage to our assets and like i said our prospects havent done much to excite. Speers made the team out of camp got injured and was never good enough to make it the following year then this past year mcleod makes it or his injury let ppl believe he did yet he never came back and played and didnt tear up the o for a kid with his wheels and the fact we took him at 11 or 12 is getting concerning, hopefully it was just the effects of being injured. So how does he pull of something big to improve the team ? I see the potential for a big deal but does it better with the pieces likely going out ? Im thinking it would just be switching one weakness for another not reaally being able to add without adding our first which we could be bad and who ever we trade it for could not work out for whatever reason. He needs to aquire us some assets to blow on pieces we are going to keep.

I think we all agree, and hope, that Shero is working on something. But, honestly, other than Carlsson and, more importantly, de Haan, I didn't see a UFA worth dishing out significant money for. Did you?

2 second round picks a third and rykov is a lot of value to have nothing but mueller left behind. The possablities of assets that could be aquired for a package like that are almost endless. Im also wondering what point they decided they didnt want moore and why they didnt move him at the deadline ( maybe they did ) for a player you like that allows you to still compete for the play offs like we wanted to but doesnt see that piece leave for nothing at the end of the season then strike out on everyone in f/a.

The Mueller deal looks bad so far, no doubt, but he did play better toward the end of the year. Re: Moore, I disliked him as much as anyone, but for a team that's fighting to make the playoffs for the first time in years do you really think Shero could sell a move like that to the fans or, more importantly, the players? It's easy to say now, but even if he moved him what type of return did you expect Moore to net us?

Not really but he wasnt even able to retain guys so it isnt a case of us staying the course we are actually worse. Thats where my concern comes from.

I assume you mean Maroon? Can't be Moore, Gibbons or Grabner,

I said i didnt expect him to be dealt ina situation where we are getting rebuilding pieces but if you know before the tdl you dont plan on keeping him swap him 1 for 1 for a d you do like and can still play on the roster to keep you competing. Boston liked him enough to sign him to 5 years maybe we could of swapped d there a shut down slower guy who is reliable for moore a smooth skating plug there could be appeal to any team trying to get more mobile and right now and at the time we were pretty mobile we could of risked swapping player types if there was a team willing to do so is what im saying. Maybe moore was always going to be a last minute desicion i cant say ill ever really know.

What does it matter ? I only see youre arguement if he brought players in to replace then and he didnt. Im not saying grabner worked out he didnt but he still walked and what came in or what is replacing it ? I took care if his production was poop the fact is the nobodies brought in or not brought in to play these minutes will likely be worse then poop. You still get worse it doesnt matter if its only a little lol if you have two beans to eat you will likely die but if you take those beans away and get nothing you starve faster it doesnt matter they where of little value.

Ok, I find it hard to believe Boston would have moved any type of reliable d-man when they were poised to make a run too. History doesn't show many instances of two playoff bound teams, in the same conference, making trades right at the deadline.

But the argument to spend just for the sake of spending is silly. I agree that I would have liked to see de Haan, becaue in my opinion a LHD is our biggest need, along with a winger. But the other UFAs out there weren't worth giving big money to in my opinion. Sure, a 1 or 2 year deal would have maybe been ok, but that wasn't really an option.

Lol i used them as an example im sure there was one of the 16 or so teams that dont make the play offs had a plyer capable of playing moores minutes ( lets not pretend all of a sudden he was great but im willing to be if you suck and can skate in todays nhl you have a better chance of sticking then being a slower reliable player. Teams are constantly trying to get more mobile so i dont believe it couldnt have been done.
