Bergy and Kopitar. They are two of the best forwards of the last decade and have shut down all the top point getters of the NHL, but they are not PPG players.
Perspective........ With that said I don't give a poop. Carry on. |

I thought EK was a hockey guy. Wow, I guess he thinks Lemieux was better than Gretzky as well. Ek is contradicting himself here. He is saying Matthews is the best player and that he makes his teammates better. But I’m pretty sure when Matthews got hurt this year the leafs did just fin without him. Now when McDavid got hurt 2 years ago the oilers sank like a concrete pad.
If you want to talk ‘best player’ than look at individual awards. Which Mcdavid is piling up. If you want to talk about who has been to the playoffs more, then Matthews has McDavid beat, so far. Truth is... both of them haven’t won a cup. But McDavid has more in his trophy case.
I would love to see Matthews make more than Connor, and leave less for the rest of his team.
I wonder what leafs nation would be crying about then? |

This shouldn’t have even been brought up. Such a dumb thing to say. “Matthews should make more than McDavid”. Ridiculous.
Crosby is better than Ovie
And McDavid is better than Matthews.
Matthews is in the same tier as Ovie, Kucherov, Eichel etc... |

Of course Matthews will make more than Tavares and at least as much as McDavid. It has nothing to do with who is the better or most valuable hockey player. Matthews should be paid at a top scale rate for the season in which he signs. Assume a cap of $82m. for the base year and Matthews being paid a top rate of 15%. The correct number projected for 2019-20 is $12.3m or $98.4m over 8 years (perhaps they round it off at $100m.). |

Anyone who plays for the Leafs is what I understand. At the moment Tavares heads that list. But it's fluid. Used to be Kessel until he was traded. When Nylander signs his contract, it will be him for a while. |

Canada is a socialist country. Trust me the taxes are higher. Everything is more expensive. We pay $5 a gallon for gas. If you give Kuch $9.5 in Ottawa for instance, his money after taxes does not go nearly as far as it does in Florida. Ive lived in Florida for 10 years and now in Ottawa. Believe me I know what I am talking about. The players now what I am talking about too. He would want 11mil in Ottawa just to make up for this. A Canadian NHL team owner is paying 11mil for that 9.5mil contract after his exchange rate. NOT FAIR! - KANADIAN
i said toronto and new york, california were close. I live in NY were going to be just as socalist in a few years
I just dont get how the league could counter it bcs each state is different. I dont know much about canada but i assume each areas taxes are different from the other? |

Too complicated, watching the news lately theres alot of political issues going on that could end up affecting taxes, states incomes, federal aid..ect... Florida has an advantage with no state tax. Just leave it alone. Why complicate everything |

Bettman and the owners seem to want to create an even playing field, and the salary cap, which is a huge part of being able to build a successful team, does the direct opposite.
Either way, i'm not really concerned, just think it will help create the parity the league seems to want. |

Well, he is an idiot.
Add - I wanted him in Buffalo, but it seems a lot of players don't like playing for him.
Kind of glad he went elsewhere after reading comments from Chelios, Zetterberg, Suter, Commodore ETC. |

Has nothing to do with this but I would like some of your guys opinions. All in all...Laine or Rantanen?
Both have to resign this season. Both had similar early European careers. Who ends up the better player? Large gap? Your guys thoughts. |

Nobody deserves more than McDavid, to have to play on the Oilers. Not knocking the individual players.......it’s Oilers Management that can’t bake the cake with the right ingredients. - Bullot
