I'm guessing you've never heard of John Tavares then?

St. Louis ain't much more appealing, pal.
- erose55

It is not about the city of St Louis.

He has a son that lives here. Maroon is from St Louis. Grew up a Blues fan.

If he signs here for less than other places are offering, that is the reason. Not because he is comparing the city of St Louis to Newark.

Im sure shady poop is going on in Toronto with Scotia bank and Leafs. Its no wonder Dubas thinks he can fit everyone in that cap.

JT took less but im sure will also have plenty more deposited in his account magically.

So the leaf ownership are risking their multi billion dollar a year corporation?? Executive's from publicly traded companies that get paid the same whether they win or lose are risking their ass for what? your a (Franking) idot

If by magically you mean from numerous legitimate sponsorship deals then you're probably right.

I've heard Tavares doesn't have to pay monthly fees on his Scotiabank chequing account or his visa.

Did you really call me a (frank)ing idiot behind the safety of your computer?

You are either 12 yrs old or an adult that gets picked on everyday of your life.

Sorry if it's the latter.

I have inside sources that tell me he's also been given a 3rd free e-transfer per month. Perks of playing in Toronto. Am I right.

Sweet. I use them and knew they’re from Toronto but didn’t know if they were really popular there.

Queenie - really only 5 banks in Canada. TD, RBC, Scotia, BMO and CIBC. As opposed to 1000’s in US.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming....

Family usually gets the priority especially if hes made a few million already. In saying that, he might be trying to get Shero to put his hand a little deeper in his pocket!

Rumour has it, Dubas has a tight friend who's old man is a billionaire that loves golf but can't play for poop. So, Shanahan recommended (in his teary speech), to Tavares (who hates golf as he's played so much over the Islanders years), that there's a few really nice courses around Toronto & he can get Dubas to get his mate to let JT into a few of the exclusive clubs along with the old man.

They can & will go & play skins for 250k a hole...............JT said "ok I'm in".

It's like the scene from Caddyshack where Newnan is putting the final shot and Judge Smalls says...."well, we're waiting!"

That seems a little rich for guy sitting with 1 year $1.7M on the table. I was guessing it would take 2 yr 3M.

I don't get how Maroon can leave a few MILLION a year for a few years on the table. The guy realistically has 12ish years to make all the money he can for the rest of his, and his family's, lives. You can live wherever you want after your NHL career is over, which won't be that long. idk. I'm not judging the guy, just stating the obvious.

He's also a guy that never took training to seriously and has the build to completely fall apart if he goes back to his old ways.

Be one thing if he made a boat load of money, but he just hasn't at this stage in his career.

Still don't know why he doesn't take the money and pay his ex to bring the son more often.

As long as we realise he is a 3rd liner, and pay him as such, i'm good. But the guy is a slug on the ice who is best as a screen on the pp.

He has a good stick and hands he actually reminded me a lot of the way jagr played the game at 40+ slow as (frank) but hard to knock off, strong on the puck and has the decision making to set up guys or just hot potato the puck up to the next guy without exactly slowing the play down.

This is about right. Sad to see that our offseason is spent pondering Maroon as our most important add. Unless its all to enter the Hughes lottery (one more time Hall).
