1 year, 1.7M for Maroon. Holy poop we couldn't afford that?
I was under the impression we were talking 4-5M and term. That is ridiculous |

Maroon o STL
1 year at 1.7 million.
My suspicion is he did this deal to help team with the cap for this year. Then, in January, they can do an extension for years beyond, at a higher cap hit.
Go Blues.....major depth |

WOW - big big loss.
NJD want to hard to play against.
That means much much more than just small forwards with speed.
What do we do IF ....... Hall decides He is tired of getting bashed around because he is the only scorer on the team.Team will target him and HIT HIM. And BOLTS ?
They also target NICO. NOT GOOD. |

they couldn't match him playing for his home town club. that's why his number is so low. nothing you can do there.
it was the same thing when we offered more money to Shattenkirk last year, he just wanted to play for the Rangers. |

I guess for some people it doesn't matter the number. But if it were me, I have (hopefully) 15 years of my life to make the most money I possibly can to live off of for the next 50.. I'm looking to maximize that amount as much as possible. |

Would rather have any of our prospects - willschulme
Obviously but you dont jist let them have it you make them beat out hubgrier players with less talent. Compitition for spots is key we cant just give rosters spots away to players solely because we drafted them. We lost a lot of depth and only brought in 2 or 3 minor league players. Some compition for these spots are necessary. |

So Maroon signed a one year deal for 1.7 million!! I think that’s 50 dollars more than last year. Shero must have something going on. That’s close to the 4-5 million people were projecting him to make. Smh |

This story us BS. Maroon talked about playing in NJ and that he line Edmonton. He didn’t wake up 9 days into free agency and after weeks of being able to think about this and figure out he wanted to play at home.
Seems more likely he ended up there because the market dictated it. Which sort of begs the question what was NJ offering.

Not at all. He's worth at least double what he's going to get in St. Louis, but they wanted him to prove it. If he scores 10-12 goals by January, I'm wagering they extend him 4.5x5. |

No, I agree he’s worth double what he signed for. Why did he have to take a 1year prove it contract. Ray wouldn’t offer him $3.5-4.5m?! |

I think it has less to do with "prove it" and more to do with salary cap space. It took this long because Blues made expensive noves first and then slotted him for this year and he magicly signs an extension for big bucks as soon as allowable. Devs only chance was probably if he couldn't sign with Blues. Not Shero's fault, imo... |

Little bit of A, little bit of B. In Edmonton and NJ he did okay: in Anaheim not so much. He'll "probably" score something like 23 if he's on their power play.
Think they saw the Clarkson situation and said "not to us". Brodeur is an asst GM there: he might be like "watch out with them power forwards... one year they score 30, the next year they jump off the bench to fight someone who's 6'8" |

It's been a remarkably quiet off season, and not just because there haven't been any real moves but I haven't heard much from Shero about what the plan is. Wonder what is really going on in Devilville.... |
