Not sure if anyone has said this, but I realise the player you may get will help you, but why on earth would you want to give Tampa another high end player? Unless Shero thinks he can build a team that can beat Tampa, you are helping them create a real great team - & it's not for a year or 2, but for the next 6 years in my opinion.

Helping an opposing team short term I get, but giving them the tools to beat you when you should be contending isn't smart business. If no one helps them, it puts more pressure on Dorian to find a solution - enter Shero the master negotiator & watch him rape & pillage.

If Tampa is really where Karlsson wants to go then he’s likely to end up there anyways. Better to get something out of it than nothing. Someone is going to help TB unload salary. If you’re Shero, do you want to get some assets or do you want another divisional rival to get them?

My only issue here is which team is Ray Shero trying to win a Stanley Cup for the Devils or the Lightning?...If we are making this trade to give basically 2 teams major cap relief we need to be at the BIGGEST end of where prospects are going.Say it is Tyler Johnson we get slong with a Ryan or Callahen(or both) what is itvreally benefiting us? The last 3 years Johnson is averaging 18 goals a year.I am pretty damn sure we could have signed someone during free agency for that same production(Maroon sound familiar?). We have 2 years to make the Devils a string Cup contender or else summer of 2020 we can get ready to see pictures of Taylor Hall in his pajamas at age 9 on Twitter if ya know what I mean!!

Shero's only concern is to make the Devils better. To get more value than he gave up. This "other people better" is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard.

If you are trying to make your team better it's to win the Cup. If making your team better also makes another team better - & better than your team, then you aren't winning the Cup which is the objective, so why make the team better that way when there other ways to do it?
