I'd take on his contract with 35% retained lol
I hope the Pens make a move that won't take many assets. |

I've never met a cool Bobby in my entire life. Everyone I have ever met named Bobby turned out to be a douchebag.

If the Pens ended up getting Ryan they'd have the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall picks of the 2005 draft on their roster haha. |

He’s the most hated non-political Cheapskate Melnyk might be doing the Penguins a favorperson in Ottawa. He will eventually be forced out and will take a deal to sell the team. He’s already getting offers.
Voice to text for blogs now? RW is low energy. |

35%?!?!? Yeah... more like 50% if he's gonna be here for four years. First Lucic, now Ryan.
I'll be honest though, I don't think poorly of Bobby Ryan. The "change of scenery" gets thrown around a bit too much, but I do think he'd benefit from one. Still though. not paying him $4M+ for four years. |

The ridiculous thong about Melnyk is he still believes that the Sens are some kind of "Top 5 NHL roster"...
You have to spend 60 million, or whatever the cap floor is anyways, so just let Bobby Ryans 7 million be part of that number and offset it with whatever cheap top tier rookies on ELC's that you can get for Karlsson straight up
Instead he'll give Ryan and Karlsson away for nothing, and then have to sign some mid tier Free Agents making 4 million or so just to reach the cap floor
The asking price for Karlsson should be simple
1) Value player signed long term to undervalued contract (not necessarily a star player)
2) Top pick on ELC
3) 1st round pick (will be a late pick so not really that valuable)
Tyler Johnson, Sergachev and a 1st from Tampa
Instead he'll take less in trade and have to waste money on some random Free Agent because once 13.75 million goes out, and less money comes in (say 6 million) he'll be 6 million under the cap floor and will be forced to overpay someone else |

I don't think he believes that in the slightest. Even though he's back-tracked, I think he's been pretty transparent about wanting to rid himself of this team or move them to another city. |

He said it as recently as this season when there were rumors of Boucher getting fired
Previous year in the ECF losing in Game 7 OT as an example
Didn't acknowledge that was probably lighting in a bottle and not the norm |

I have to believe part of that is lip service. |

It doesn’t take a CSI investigation to come to that conclusion.
I see what you did there! How'd that investigation ever turn out anyway! |

I'm just hoping Karlsson goes out West.
I honestly think a well-rested healthy Pens group will be much better this year than last year even with you-know-who in the lineup, but now that TOR has JR and if Tampa gets Karlsson it's going to be a very tough battle. |

I know Melnyk is a goofy as*hat, but if I remember correctly, weren't the Sens a mid-tier spending team a year or two ago? They actually tried to compete with trading for Duchene. He approved Bobby Ryan's contract. He approved taking on Dion Phaneuf and his bloated deal. Plus, it sounds like they offered Karlsson a somewhat competitive contract too.
At this point, it's just good business attempting to remove your ugliest contract by handcuffing him to your best asset that will not resign with you. I really see nothing wrong with that.
Not saying I'd want that idiot as my owner, but I'd take him in a micro-second over that thief Bob Nutting who currently owns the Pirates. |

Wasn't Bryan Murray still in charge then?
He's not given enough credit for how he kept the reigns and the crazy tamed on Melnyk
Dorion is a puppet and basically just a glorified Melnyk yes man |
